How do you explain to a potential lover that you have been raped? I have someone in my life that could cross into this role and I feel that its time that I reveal this part of my life but I don't want to scare him off either. I don't know how to approach the subject or even how to tell him once the subject is brought up. Any suggestions?

my word of advice is to take it slow and make sure that he is a safe person... maybe get a professionals help with it... i was re-abused by someone i trusted with the information... i thought he was safe but he wasn't... i am not saying that your friend isn't safe... just asking you to take it slowly and carefully...Lyn

Thanks Lyn...I believe he's safe....I just don't want to scare him away which I believe could happen. I will talk with my therapist about it when I see her next week though before I talk with him though that is a good idea.
