I can't think of anything that one could wear as a teenager and not wear as a thirty year old, or fifty year old - it's one of those limitations that society puts on us. It's kind of like so many people cutting their hair in their 40's and 50's. My mom hates my hair long - she said I looked homeless! But other people like it, and most importantly I like it. The two things that guide me as far as limitations go on what I will or will not wear, are the same as they would be if I were a teenager - I make sure my clothes cover me, and I prefer not to show too much cleavage, (except when I'm around my husband), and that's mainly because I'm married. I don't want to give men the wrong message, plus most people are like me - they don't want to see other people's cracks, etc. And I'm too big to be wearing tights with a short t-shirt - how big or small you are should play a factor in what clothes you wear, too.

At 29 you can wear almost anything. Though like the previous poster Im not keen on anything too tight or too short.
It doesn't matter what you wear as long as you like it and it suits you.
Thanks for this!

Cute tops (Say, one with a cat face on it)
Shorts worn with tights underneath
Converse trainers
Cropped jumpers with denim shorts
are mutton dressed as lamb for 29 year olds I wear a lot of that sort of clothing so am worried now.

I see those outfits a matter of personal style rather than age. Part of expressing ourselves is through what we wear, and since you're petite I would dress however makes you feel good about yourself, as long as the clothes stay on

Well, those people telling you that are silly. I'm 30 and see nothing at all wrong with wearing any of those things.

The only time things matter is when you're in an environment where there is some form of dress code required.

It is depressing that someone not even 30 can be described as that. Age obsessed society we live in...

a nappy and a baby grow

I think at 29 you should not be worrying about that at all. You sound very beautiful and you are still very young, so I say enjoy it a wear what you like honey x

Well...Im 27 and really the only thing is I am kinda modest. I don't really want a gal's boobs falling out but hey if she wants cleavage, ok. And super tight clothes to me are really just kind of unattractive-on either gender.

Wear what you want. Ok?
Thanks for this!

I am slightly embarrassed to admit that i have a top with a cat face on it. Its too small for me right now but i refuse to get rid of it. Also one of Randy Travis, and one with Wallace and Grommet, which is REALLY questionable, because they are each over one boob! You know how they do!

With the exception of my gothic clothing, which I pretty much gave up wearing but still have, I'm wearing the same stuff now that I was wearing in high school. I'm 34.

As long as you don't look in the mirror & think, wow, I look ridiculous, then I think you can wear what you want. I worried about dressing my age for a little while when I turned 30. I felt like I should be changing my entire wardrobe to be "more mature". But after a while I said screw that because then I'll be unhappy & uncomfortable.

As long as I am dressed appropriately for whatever situation I'm in, I wear what I want. I still wear tees from Aeropostale, I still wear hoodies, I wear sarcastic tees, I always wear tennis shoes, I'm lucky enough to get away with wearing tees & jeans to work almost year-round.

My gf is 30 & she has Converse in every darn color. Wear them to your heart's content!

In this country we are free to wear whatever we want. That does not mean that wearing everything is advisable. Like it or not people judge us by our appearance and they can be pretty nasty about it. perhaps it is unfortunate but it is the way it is. If we dress in "costumes" people label us and often that restricts our available choices in life.
I try to find things that make me feel good about myself and enhance my attitude and self esteem, not things that are designed to shock others. At age 29 I would be moving toward wearing things that enhance your image as young adult woman not a teenager.

Finally the culture of the place you work has a lot to do with what is appropriate. That varies around our country and certainly between countries. I always try to ask myself does what I am wearing enhance the person I know that I am and the image I want to project. A lot of time the advice and opinions of other women whose judgment you respect are helpful. After all most of us women need to continually ask "How do I look?"

Ever considered a different job? Seems way too much over there, imo. If it looks good, looks appropriate, what's their deal, anyways?

Who doesn't wear converse??

You have your own style. I don't expect going on 30 means you must start dressing like my 80 something year old gram, who goes for comfort at her age..

Drop the hipsters and gstrings for the granny panties, get a super short hairdo, that actually resembles their own youth, with curlers and yeah...

So what, you've a t-shirt with a cat, shorts with tights and converse. Sounds rockin to me...
