I hate how cheap my workplace has turned into. They automatically swipe us out now instead of doing it manually in order to save a couple cents by swiping us out earlier. They keep sending us home early too. It's ****ing frustrating being paid student minimum wage and getting sent home after an hour of work. Not to mention all the new people they've been hiring which results in the existing workers not getting enough shifts.

I was let go from my last job because they thought foreigners would do a better job at managing American business data. Too bad language barriers really are barriers, but at the end of the day I, along with my coworkers, was just a number and was disposable.

I can't stand how the modern workplace sees people as disposable trash instead of assets to build them up. Then HR and managers complain about people who leave their jobs after a year without "getting their money's worth" from them. Hello, if you don't treat your employees as an asset, treat them like intelligent capable people and give them challenges, yes they are going to leave. So STFU about it, or change.

The problem now is hard workers aren't rewarded because managers and their managers want the workplace to be some giant high school fest. I'm sorry, you're paying me to perform a service, not to be someone's friend. It's all about egos, personalities, cliques, etc. Honestly if I had known that back when I left high school at 18, I would have gone into business with someone and said sayanara mother ****ers!!

This is exactly what I have been dealing with. The bosses buddies can say all they want about you in a negative way and if the boss pays no attention to your work, you're screwed. I would bust my hump and do good work only to have the boss tell me "I am hearing your having a lot of problems learning your job." Job Rants/ Problems at Work

I'm so sick and tired of doing everyone else's jobs for nothing. If ppl are to dumb or incompetent or lazy to do the job they were hired and paid for FIRE THEM!!! They are a waste of time, money, space, and air. Better yet since only 10% of the workforce does 90% of the work, y can't we just get rid of them? Y am I struggling pay check to pay check when I do all the work, and they do nothing but sit on their fat ****ing lazy asses!!! They literally do nothing in their job but send all the work to me!

As an employer and business owner, my frustration is with the piles of laws that are required to attend to in order to fire those that are less than competent...add to this the stress of working in a business and being handcuffed by the "affordable" care act regulations, and also being in a business that is becoming way more of a headache than it is worth...

Going into business is not all that it's cracked up to be. You become responsible for everything - the competent, the incompetent, the openings, the closings, the bills, the insurances, the cliques, your own paycheck, etc...A client of mine once told me that the best business to run is that with one employee - you.

Oh I know, then when you point out to the managers what is going on you are the on fired for "not being a team player." WHy not though, it's American way of business and has been for a long time. China slaves for pennies on the dollar so a few can sit back getting rich never lifting a finger. Same with those who live on "Dividend Checks" from Wall Street.

The only lesson I learned owning a business was that I need a small fortune to take the representatives out for steak dinners and golf games and kiss all kinds butt to make any accounts come my direction. It was a giant joke and game only the rich can play.

There are a lot of things I like about being a contractor but then there are stupid things the client does to make sure you know you are a contractor. Contractors are not allowed to have the "bigger" cubes which I didn't even notice are bigger until somebody pointed them out. Therefore I don't sit with my team which is simply less conducive for the work. I sit with people I don't work with who are great people. So great in fact I get distracted thus it is really a stupid inefficiency. Just move my smaller cube over... I don't give a rats ***! Some employees actually do view it as a bene... Being treated on a higher level then contractors. Those are the red stapler guys.

Or they send out invites to all hands meetings and you have to figure out if you are supposed to go or not. I've seen it go both ways. Usually I just ignore any sort of bene like parties or tickets, even things like blood draws but last year I was told I actually WAS invited to the company baseball game on the day of the game. Go figure.

But you are the one who gets to decide the culture, how things are run, who you hire, etc. If you're a business owner, you get to get rid of the incompetent or tell them to change and you can work as little or as much as you want for income.

If being a business owner sucks, and working for someone else sucks, what do you do? People need to eat.

All easier said than done...not all business is created equally, and working little is not an option in any business, at least not one that I've found. Having been employer and employee, I prefer the latter.

Yes, I am an independent contractor and that works for me. There is a mutual agreement. Even with more taxes that I have to pay and such - I love the freedom.

Okay so let's say being an independent contractor doesn't work out, along with self-employment. The rest of us HAVE to figure out a way to work for "the man" without going nuts.

Before the Industrial Age working for "the man" was not as common... Or should I say stockholders. I think that relationship is changing... Or it should. We need more control over our own lives.

I'm being bullied/harassed at work at the moment by coworkers within my department. If you get to know me personally, I'm a very sweet person. I was rehired at my old employer a couple months ago and I am hanging in there. I feel like I need to look elsewhere because it's definitely taking a toll on my health.

I know...I wasted a lot of years being unhappy in jobs. Part of it is to change the way of thinking. Easier said than done. I had jobs I hated...but there were duties and co-workers that I enjoyed and tried to focus on that. We cannot always change the situation and you cannot change the people you do not like.... we can change our thinking and work on the journey into something the we feel better about on a daily basis.

Sorry to hear that. Not sure what kind of company you work for but document what is going on & go to HR...if they do not help..start to figure out a plan to leave. Good luck. We spend way to much time working and no one should suffer abuse at work!
