I am BP mixed, good at what I do, but my job is BORING, thankless, and constant go-go-go all day long. It isn't all that favorable for someone like me. It pisses me off on an hourly basis.

I am reaching a point at which I am self destructing, like I have at other jobs in the past. I don't get canned, but I just leave.

Does anyone else feel like they're in a box with no escape? If so, what do you do? My strategy right now is to downplay my job and focus on other things outside of work. Thanks.

Yeah I am sorry to hear about this Row Jimmy

I've certainly been in your shoes in certain jobs.

Not a nice feeling at all.

Can I challenge your thinking?

Is there ANY area in your organisation in which you could approach your direct manager/senior manager and actively ask if you are able to take up training and begin to contribute towards this?

Is there something you can offer that isn't already being offered?

Is there an area that would bring potential to your organisation that you can offer to bring forward; with the approval of management?

I don't know enough about your organisation to be able to answer this.

Think of Steve Jobs.

He used his power of Innovation Daily.

Think of all of the products and new designs he bought out.

Now I know the Iphone etc is not necessarily for everyone.

But I merely use this example for illustration purposes only.

Hello Row Jimmy, sounds like you could do with a job that would tax your brain a bit rather than being monotonous. I've done boring jobs in the past that paid well but I didn't stay because once I'd learnt the job I got bored. So, maybe look into a career change that keeps you learning all the time. I work in care, it doesn't pay well but trust me, eveyday is different!

Hooligan, thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.

I have been avoiding revealing what I do (for all sorts of paranoid reasons) but I guess the time I now. I am a school teacher. Unlike the private sector, this is a completely different ball of wax. There is no training, no support, no career path, nothing. I am just looking to get out and while I look, I'm just trying to get through each day.

Pegasus, thanks for the reply. I am in the process of making a change but it will be challenging for me. I am a school teacher and the private sector has not been all that receptive to my resume experience.

Unfortunately, "boring" has always been a relative term to me. I've left some other jobs in the past because of my constant need to be challenged. I self destruct every five years or so. I am working on just slowing my mind down and letting things come to me. But that has been a challenge in a school where much of what I see every day is teen goofball foolishness that I just can't embrace.
