I am certain my supervisor despises me. I really would not mind if she had a reason, but I've given her none. She responds to my friendly "hello" with an icy glare and it has been that way from my first day. Again, I don't mind people hating me so long as they have a reason. Believe me-if you get to know me, you'll find plenty.
I believe she has it out for me. I will provide an example: Before I went to work on Sunday, I was scheduled to come in Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. When I checked again that night, I'd been taken off completely. Surely a mistake, I thought. So, I checked the next morning. Still off. And a couple hours later. Still off. It wasn't until 15 minutes before I had to be there that my schedule was returned to its former state. If I didn't compulsively check my schedule, they would've been out of luck. Today, she used my being late as a result of that incident to claim I've made a habit of being tardy. I've only been late once. I called in another time to say I might be late, but wasn't. Not the same thing. That's called being courteous. I know she makes the schedules and I believe she did this on purpose. But that sounds crazy. I know she has something against me. She won't come when I page her for a customer, she calls while I'm busy to tell me what a sh** job I'm doing, and she always looks at me as if I've tinkled upon her wedding dress. I refuse to allow her to make work miserable, as I am well aware she hopes her behavior will cause me to quit. Everyone else is very nice. Customers are friendly; coworkers are helpful and encouraging. She is the only difficult person, and unfortunately, she's my boss. Should I complain to someone about her? And how would I do so? Do I really have enough reason to? |

Complaining about bosses is not usually that effective. Would it be possible to request a supervisor change for a positive reason i.e. New Manager could teach you how to do X and you think that would be great for the company because etc etc. I successfully got away from a bad boss using a similar method. In my case, I asked to work for my boss's boss.

I've only been working there for two weeks, so I'm a bit nervous they'll dismiss my claims. My plan so far is to continue being pleasant and professional so that she can't warp my words or make me look bad. If it continues, I will contact HR. I'm not sure if Passive-Aggressive Harassment is a thing, but it needs to be.
Also, I work at a grocery store, so I can't really request to work with another supervisor. I could request not to be scheduled on the same days, however she makes the schedule so I doubt she'd honor that. Ho hum. Patience, I suppose. |

Take notes at home of anything strange going on, like these very-last-minute schedule changes. Write down the dates and times that this happens, keep a personal daily journal about all of these things, including how you're being treated at work. File a complaint to HR if things do not improve. I recommend keeping a private journal about all of these things so that you don't forget them and can look back on them as your own form of proof if you're ever asked specifically whats wrong by HR.

Kill her with kindness! I ran into some unfair business from my supervisor when I started working a year ago. I killed her with kindness which made it harder to be a ***** to me. Do it in front of people, she tried her best to get rid of me. I did a super job and in the end, she left within 3 months and my job became much more tolerable. Good luck!

My experience has taught me that in *most* situations,
HR IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. I agree with Mrs. Mania that killing the offender with kindness is a great strategy. Whole religions have been based around this principle. Plus, you get the good feeling that comes with being....good. I realize that's small potatoes compared with revenge fantasies, but sometimes when bullies realize they're not jerking your chain, they go...elsewhere. And finally, plan your escape. This situation is crazy-making. |

Do you have a printer where you can print off your schedule? Those changes should at least be questioned. Ya know " i was looking at the schedule over the wkend and it looked like i wasnt scheduled, then i was again - am i doing stg wrong?"

Before you do anything document everything, as best as you can. The more you can back up your claims the less crazy you will sound. Also if anyone else can back up your claims, it will sound better also.
Does she treat anyone else like this? Is it possible she has some kind of issue, or took something the wrong way? She could also just be a jerk.
