From the older folks, what are some goals you recommend to be achieved before age 30?

All I do is work (50-60hr/wk), chores and sleep. I dont have any real commitments, no debts, no social life, no family. I don't even know why I'm working so hard but I work anywY, because all I have to do at home is invent chores and be bored and depressed.

I have a list of books to read before 30, but other than that please offer your personal input.

You should do a bucket list 30 things to do before you are 30. I was gonna do it but never got around to it. I was 30 in February.

Some ideas

-Volunteer your time like a Skill Share
- Chose a new hobby
- Be adventurous (try something thrill seeking like sky diving or bungee jumping)
- Learn a new language

No matter what, find time to enjoy life. Im not pushing you spend money but that's the way to enjoy life. Make friends. Talk to each other. Make your life active like after work do this do that. Go to the bar and stuff. Adventure and stuff. Find what you love then concentrate on it. If you love outdoors, why not. But outdoor stuff and drive to the mountains and enjoy the view. Drink a couple of beers and then have fun.

I try to always do some kind of continuing education, some career related, some hobby related.

The quarter-life crisis hit me pretty hard. I was in a similar situation, working too many hours, nothing much to do outside of work. I wound up enrolling in a grad program designed for working professionals. It forced me to cut back on some of the unpaid hours I was doing at work (are you salaried?), introduced me to a lot of new friends, and opened some doors professionally that might have otherwise been closed.

I like all these other suggestions above, too. If there is something you have always wanted to do or wanted, but it seems out of reach, start reaching for it now.

I second CapedCrusader's reply.

Interact with others. It doesn't matter if it's only one person. Just connect. It's cliche, but that's life!

To answer your question, though, here are some of my suggestions:

- Look for a local group of mountain climbers and climb the highest mountain in your place or proximity
- Do some water rafting too
- Go to a peaceful paradise (I'm a beach person)
- Get into a relationship
- Work hard on something you love

Yup, they all need somebody else who you need to interact with.

The way I see all this is: Do whatever you want to do while you're still young. Doesn't matter how you do it (like you may borrow some money just to not miss the perfect opportunity); just find a way and do it. I believe creating nice memories in your "youth" has an effect on your future goal-setting. You better see it as early as now, at this stage of your life. Sometimes, the thing you've done only once is the best.

You may be an introvert (from how you described your routine) but it may not hurt to share your experiences with other people. Sure, you may not really want the interaction at all; but just give it a try.

You can still finish that bucket list Miss Laura. You can change it to 60 things to do before 60. I'm 23 and I'm not going to put pressure on myself to accomplish things before I'm 30 because if I've learned anything from life, it's that life is very unpredictable and things rarely go as planned. The only thing I've told myself that I must do before age 30 is have a good stable job. That's it. I don't know if I want kids or to get married so that's not on my to-do list. Personally even if I decide to have kids, I'd want to be in my 30s, because my career and being financially independent comes first. So if you already have a good career, stable paycheck and no debt by the time you're 30, you're doing good.
Oh and I forgot, I also want to own my own house/condo by then, which comes with having a career and stable paycheck. Everything else is a bonus.

I'd work on learning those things, committing to something, maybe going to school and acquiring a bit of debt (or buying a house/piece of property), go out and meet people, do some dating so you'll have a family, etc. Those things take working on just as hard if not harder than "work" does.

What do you spend your money on? I'd look at that and your interests and see what you wanted to do. I guess one of my #1 goals if I could go back to being in my 20's would be to learn better money management and self-care.

The work is paid. I dont really know what I want. Or what I want cant happen right now. I wanna get married and live in some log cabin out in the woods somewhere on a homestead. I sex to wake me up and put me to sleep. I wanna spend all my time with the one I love, until I am wearing dentures. Maybe not practical.

No interest in advancing this career, only maintenance. Rather learn a skill at this point.

But dont you get bored? Thats what I am facing and I still have 5 years to go. I inherited a house and I renovated it this year, still was boring, all it did was keep me a lil busy and stressed at times.

Dont want kids either. Maybe in 10 years.

Material things dont satisfy very much..

Whats strange is I type as ENFP all the time. They say we are the most introverted of the Extroverts. I am kinda stranger as I get older. I ignore people who try to talk to me at work. I zone out, tune out. I run away. I avoid. I wish peopl would shut up. I wish the conversation was over etc. I am becoming very introverted. this is not me. I used to love to be around people... people people people! Its changed now.

I love your suggestions but I dont have the people to enjoy it with. Due to the above problem I dont actually make friends anymore. I also feel like the people around me are alien... who could I possibly connect with? I dont even give them a chance. A terrible list of turn offs, and just one will shut you out.

I am however on here now. Its always nicer like this. I feel like I'm "getting out there" and I haven't left my room.

I save it. I am renovating my house with my mom. Saving for my first vacation. spent a whole bunch on mri scans and all kindsa test. Food. Will be going to the gym so that soon. Not many things, mostly savings. I manage it aggressively. averse to borrowing. Ill borrow from myself.

I'm probably gonna learn a new skill trade I think.

You can make a daily schedule for yourself. For example, when I buy my own house I'm planning on doing a lot more yoga or going to the gym each day, that takes about an hour. Lets say you work 8 hours per day, you can make a yummy breakfast and really sit down and appreciate your morning before work. Then once you get home you can spend an hour doing yoga/meditation/gym or some kind of physically relaxing practice (biking, swimming, hiking, etc). Then you can go to the bookstore, or do some kind of hobby, then you can blog or do another hobby, then you can cook a delicious dinner or get a friend to do something with, and before you know it it's time to go to bed.

Sounds like you just need some hobby or interest ideas to fill up your time. List things you like to do, whether its gardening, writing, painting, yoga, beach, literally anything, and just do them a day at a time. Fill your time up with things you enjoy. I get bored too but it's a little harder when I'm still living with a parent because my time isn't really all "my time". So these are the things I'm planning on doing soon when I move out. You can also look around your neighborhood and see if theres any neat places you wanna try out.

take the time to learn about the political players and study the concerns, not just vote like a 20-something millenial.
