If I tell my company that their processes are causing me mental stress and I've to take counselling because of that. Can my company fire me?

They can do anything they like! Your question may be better phrased as "is it legal for them to do so."

I suspect that if they intend to "let you go" they are already documenting each and every one of your mis-steps to pad your file so that it looks like they are doing this for "cause" of some kind.

It is your right to ask to see your personnel file, and to go to counseling for any reason.

She is definitely right. They are padding away. Start your own documentation so if it gets too far you have your dude too. Start padding even if you have to record it and then write it down at home.

Issue is when we are depressed, we would react which isn't acceptable to anyone. Something that is linked to triggers but then no one sees triggers.

It's wise to avoid disclosing anything related to your mental illnesses to a company that you work for unless you have no other choice. Never trust a company that you rely on to make a living with this kind of information; it's one of the fastest ways to lose a job in most companies.
Thanks for this!

I think there is a big difference between seeing a therapist or being medicated...However the above statement is true, generally. I have disclosed my condition (and later thought about it) - I work for an Indian casino and they generally(it is the native tradition) hold us in high regard and would never fire us unless we do something that alienates or angers customers. Or when medicated we cannot perform mentally. Even then we can take a med leave (I am planning to take Nov/Dec off) However my situation is unique. In hindsight I should not have disclosed it) but I am planning to leave in 3 years anyway....

I feel the same way. One of my mentors told me once...when it comes to work and disclosing personal information, never say what you can think, and never write down what you can say.
That's my guideline now.
I'm amazed at what my co-workers disclose, and often, I watch as it comes back to bite them later.

Friends, therapists, lawyers, and pets - share freely. Bosses, co-workers, and assistants...proceed with caution. About anything besides WORK!
