It is barely past 7am and I've already had to take an ativan for my anxiety, which is quite bad right now. I also feel low, mood-wise.

My biggest job struggle in the past has been attendance. In past jobs employers would be frustrated with me because I'd call in sick too often and not be reliable, which is understandable. I don't want that to happen with this job because it's a good fit for me and not nearly as stressful as the food industry. I've been at this job for almost 4 months and have only called in sick once, which is really good for me.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get through the rough days at work? I haven't even started my shift yet and I feel exhausted and defeated.

Can you get out for your meal break and go for a walk? I find that helps a lot - it breaks up the day and gets me out for a bit to reset.

I wouldn't want to in this humid weather, besides my entire job is walking. Today I got 17k steps and I was trying to not walk around as much due to a slightly sore ankle. I appreciate the idea though and it would be very useful if I worked a desk job.

How do you feel on tough days as the day progresses/after you take something?

I use exercise (often times very intense ) to get through tough days in general. And it actually gives you energy. I've been on almost every type of medication there is, and when I was on benzos it completely masked things (which sometimes is good). But if you can get into exercise ie. Yoga, weightlifting, cardio, bodysculpting, biking, anything that builds the body, mind and soul, it could be what keeps you going..Benzos have their place but for me the mood increase from exercise is far better.

Take care ,

Today the ativan helped me a lot, and I noticed the day got better as it progressed. I think being busy at work is a good distraction for me. Usually evening is the best part of the day for me mood-wise, especially if I feel like I've had a productive day.

I asked that because with my current job, even though I like it, I still have mornings when I either don't want to get up at all (like this one) or mornings where I get up feeling something negative (whether it's cranky, anxiety, kind of sick, etc) and don't really want to go to work (like yesterday and some other days recently). But once I take whatever I take that helps with anxiety and/or energy, and/or once I get going (like being in the car or forcing myself to actually do some work at work) I feel a lot better. That's not always the case, and I think it's like you said--the more work I have to do, the better. When I'm at work and am not already in the best mood but I'm bored or trying to manufacture work to do, I get irritated and start really thinking about how much I want to go home. Usually, I have to find something to do to get out of this mindset, or if I have something with me to take to make me feel better I'll take something.

I take anxiety supplements and energy supplements, because I don't have a prescription for anxiety meds and I really struggle with energy, especially in the mornings. The energy supplements I take do help me with my mood most of the time, which is very important. Not everyone would want to take what I take because it has caffeine in it and I also don't think it's FDA-approved/regulated (but I'm desperate, so...lol), but all I did was do some research on Google and Amazon to find something that would help me with mood and energy, and I've tried a few different things until I found something I felt helped me and felt comfortable trying.

Since you already get a lot of exercise, try some relaxation or meditation music on your breaks. It really works for me to tame my anxiety. I even listen to it (or other music) while I work.
