I once had a boss 14 years ago who was so awful that when she went out for two months for Lyme disease treatment, we were overjoyed to have that monster out of our lives temporarily. We went out to dinner to celebrate and I made a toast "to the tick who bit her". Yeah, that sounds awful but I meant it!

That's how I feel when my boss goes out on one of her mystery medical leaves, I celebrate getting at least a temporary break from her. It's unfortunate. The company overall is pretty good, they offer some decent perks compared to many in this country. I have no problem with the work I do either. It's just this miserable woman that is the problem. |

I like my boss, but my coworker (who is not my boss) gets pretty bossy sometimes. She thinks she should be in charge because she is older and has been with the company longer.

We have problem with our photo stock account. The subscription has been expired since Monday and I reported it right away. And the responses? The management passed the buck on each other. I reported it like everyday with the same responses until yesterday. I ended up using the existing pictures and free stock to maintain my task which honestly downweighed me.
My supervisor finally get his butt in after he needed it for his own task (I reported to him since MONDAY, WHAT THE HELL DID HE DO?). I don't really understand how and why, but now I'm tasked to email the photostock's customer service (along with the invoice). THE HELL is it? While our department use the service as our resources, seriously it's not my job and beyond my authorization. It involves the invoice from the finance department and several confidential documents, which actually should not be accessed by junior staff like me. Moreover, I also need to work on my OWN job task.... I'm aghast right now. If it a cartoon, I must dropped my jaw to the floor. |

No paying job here but I'll gripe anyway. I am recovering from rotator cuff surgery and am doing great, PT is going great, awesome mobility no pain meds needed anymore. I still have to be mindful of what I do because I do not want to F anything up. Yesterday I couldnt take the dishes anymore- I had to do them, then the counters. I mopped half the floor because people had to keep using the other part of it going in and out the back. I did some wash. I baked cookies. I ran the vacuum and the stove- oh my did it need to be cleaned. I did great-very productive. But hubby came home from OT and had to work in the yard and hardly noticed and neither did the kids. Like a baby I wanted praise for doing all that in spite of my surgery. I didnt hurt myself so no martyr business here I just felt unappreciated even though I know I am not. It was all totally me and not them.

We got a new manager at work and all my coworkers absolutely despise her because they think the position should have gone to someone who was there a lot longer. I actually don’t mind her though. She’s pretty nice. I know my coworkers complain bitterly about this job but if I can leave each day basically stress free, and the job is good for my mental health, then I don’t think I should worry about whatever issues they are seeing that I’m not.

Seriously irritated. I sent my invoice to the person responsible for processing it. Apparently she had a few questions, but instead of just asking me, she sends a long email to the President and Artistic Director with all her questions, etc., and turns my invoice and proof of work into a community discussion. I responded that the invoice was processed on a certain date, and most of her questions pertain to activity that happened after that date, and that in the future, I'd appreciate it if she'd address these questions to me first.
She apologized as did the Artistic Director, but this is like the third time in a week that this group has done stuff like this, where they need to just pick up the phone and ask me a question and instead they run away with something and I have to deal with fixing it or addressing something blown out of proportion. And yes, it is threatening and upsetting to have three people commenting on my invoice, especially when I'm not happy with the contract as it currently stands (due to some new developments) and I am going to restructure the contract with them or quit. (And I've already tried to quit twice.) Honestly, they are **** at communicating, and it's making things very frustrating for me, along with their disorganization. I don't have time for poor communication or disorganization, especially when it creates more work for me. I keep trying to remember that it's a relatively easy side contract, and it's mostly just the headache of their disorganization that bothers me, and not any real problems with getting the work done. I think I will set up a filter on my inbox to make their emails go to a special folder that I can check at my leisure instead of having to deal with as they come in. I have difficulty NOT seeing messages in my inbox, but if it filters to their special folder, I will see there are new messages but be able to deal with them when I can be patient with them and not trying to deal with my life. Seesaw

I think my coworker has kleptomania. I’ve seen her put the pen we use to clock in into her pocket before, and today I went looking for my gloves after break and I left both of them on the table but I only found the right one. I looked all over the floor for it but I didn’t find it. I saw her near my table though when we were heading to break. What a weirdo.

We are changing to a new content management system that we use to input the content we prepare. The whole thing is such a fiasco.
We had no warning. Last Wednesday those of us that work from home were told we were needed in the office on Friday to learn about the new system. Then on Thursday we were told that the old system was going to be inoperative by Tuesday Apr. 1st, so anything being worked on there had to be sent to editing by Friday. Since I had to go to the training, I had to work quite late on Thursday to finish up everything. The training lasted only two hours and then we were supposed to work on a project. The system is so not ready to be used. There are way too many bugs and features we need have been removed. Even without the bugs, it’s less efficient for us to use in many ways. We constantly have to upload source files that we only had to upload once in the old system, for example. And, it takes 5-6 attempts to even upload the document correctly. Our worthless boss was AWOL; out on her mystery “medical leave”. On Friday we tried to talk to her boss, who was involved in creating the system, and IT. They were completely dismissive of us and our concerns. They said they eliminated those features because they were considered not relevant and wouldn’t listen to our explanations of why. In response to the things we mentioned needing fixing, in most cases we were told they are not a priority. Everyone is angry or upset. We feel disrespected and can’t advance in our work. Our boss got back on Monday. She has barely said anything since then. When she has, she essentially scolds us for being impatient and tells us that this is how things work. Some newer co-workers thought she’d have our back more, but those who have been there longer knew she wouldn’t. The thing is, our boss is lying. I have been through this process once before at this company and once at another company. The process was never so rushed; there was beta testing before switching. In the end, the system we tested at this company a few years ago was not implemented because of the problems it had. In that case, we worked on the new system about 1-2 hours a day, added our comments/problems to a google doc and then went back to the old system so we could get things done. It was similar at the other company I work with. It wasn’t just foisted on us to use for all our work from one day to the next. It’s now Thursday and we are still getting no answers. |

I snuck a Pepsi into my work station and it was amazing how fast time went just because I had something to drink with me. I was 5 minutes late for break because I thought it was so much earlier then it actually was. The whole day flew by. Management was kind of iffy towards me but 2 other people were sick today too so it’s not like I was the only one calling in this week.

Kind of lost it yesterday at work. I have an intern that I basically can't stand. She is an extreme extrovert and she knows nothing. I get that interns are there to spew their stupidity because the bosses want to hear a different point of view. But I am growing sick of it. So we had a ton of work to do and my boss asked me to get someone early. When I appeared with them my boss was talking with the intern. My feet are hurting me and I just could take her stupidity any longer while *I* waited. I rolled my eyes and got caught. I feel badly but I am SOOOOO sick of stupid people blathering as if they own the place. I know my boss like to encourage that but I have a job to do and I am beyond sick of it. Why do I have to wait for the INTERN!? Plus she is so stupid.
I was an intern and I was very polite and reserved. So yes, I get annoyed as heck to see an intern taking up my time. |

Work wasn’t bad today. I got a lot done. The day seemed to drag on but I had no issues. I get kind of annoyed though when my coworker is all like “what’s that smell?” When it’s very obvious it’s coming from her.

My coworkers are ridiculous when it comes to needing the bathroom. We work 5 hour shifts. They all use it right after we clock in. Why not before you clock in? Then they use it right after break. Why not on break? Then they use it an hour later when we are working. Why not wait until after work? And they are drinking their drinks at a ridiculously slow pace so it doesn’t make any sense. Meanwhile I’m chugging iced coffee and soda and I don’t use it at all. It’s just really irksome.

Another day, another stupid idea demanding to be executed, only to be wasted and forgotten because of 'change of mind'. I'm tired to do a work that ended up in a corner of my folders or the trash bin.

Turtle_Rider - I understand your frustration. I used to work for someone like that - always saying, "I need a proposal for ABC next week." In the end it would be dropped because it was too expensive, not the right timing, etc. etc. Finally after a while, he would completely forget he even asked you. He'd ask for something than never mention it again. After all the wasted work, I started to put minimal time and effort into those requests. 30 minutes looking for some links to show him if he ever asked me about it again. He rarely did.

I tried asking my manager for a locker I can actually open and he had an attitude and basically told me no. So I guess I can’t ever bring my wallet or my purse with me to work.

This is about a friend. I wrote about her before. She has a boss that hates her or rather, every single thing she does, makes him unhappy. But I think it wouldn't bother most people.
So tonight, a Friday night (before mothers day), at 4 PM... he called her into his office and told her to "have a seat" and, when she did he said, "he was thinking about making a change." So she said, what change? And he said you should talk with your "manager about that" (it is a strange structure where her boss has all the power but in name he doesn't -- so she has to talk to her "in name only" boss). Her in name only boss is not in today. She got upset as it was the weekend and said, "am I being fired?" He goes speak to your manager about that. She started to say but she isn't in... and(she was going to say) it isn't fair to leave her hanging all weekend -- he got upset with her and said, I will do what I want. Ok, I am pretty sure this is it. I am sorry for her but 1. it isn't as bad as it seems. She gets paid at the same pay rate no matter what job they make her do for two years. Usually by that time they move them into another position. 2. There is no way they are actually firing her. But she will be moved to another position. 3. She unfortunately brought it on herself -- yelling -- at someone on the bosses staff. 4. Ultimately I think it is the best thing for her.. she just can't see that. 5. I have been telling her for 5 years to get out and get another job in the office even if she has to make less for a few years, but she refused. But I HATE HIM. 1. He is so arrogant. He thinks he is a god -- I HATE that someone like that can make the people who are not on his "level" suffer. 2. To use a Game of Thrones analogy, I always wanted to be Denaryas Stormborn and I am just one of the nameless minions crushed by the wheel. I hate that he gets away with it. 3. Every 8 years there is a committee put together to determine if he should keep his job. I am debating sending in a complaint... I can't really complain about this because it is second hand, but he has a public record and I could monitor it and point out all the snarky remarks. (but they would know it comes from someone who works there). I was thinking of getting all my friends friends together to make more than one submission. People should know!! 4. I know the next person will be a zillion times worse. They won't get trained right my friend has 20 years of experience. But he will probably never admit that. |

My coworker made a fat shaming comment when a pretty heavy coworker was within earshot. It was something about how all fat people smell bad and don’t take showers properly. A manager made the same comment in front of a different coworker. Sometimes I just don’t understand people.

My patience was tested all week. An 18 year old coworker complained about being stuck in the office learning CNC programming. A few times I really wanted to tell him to shut up, but I forced myself not to. I did ask him nicely to stop complaining. It helped a little bit.
