Where is the ego too active, where is humility lacking? Are you feeling badly, is that what you mean?

Make me hide, madisgram, go ahead . Didn't get w2 from employer & didn't bug them in time, kept thinking I'd just not gone thru mail sufficiently & was hiding in magazine or somewhere--but I truly didn't get it. Now have to file for extension. & I worked for H&RB *ssh, don't tell*

Oh, woe...

I found out recently that an old timer from the AA meetings had passed away. I had liked him immediately for his terse kernels of wisdom. He used to say, "If you don't want to get drunk, don't pick up a drink." It took me a while to internalize this-hard as it may seem for such a simple statement-but now I miss hearing it from him. I think everyone would do well to find a mantra like this and repeat it every day until it penetrates those liquor-soaked heads of ours. Don't pick it up and the madness will stay in check for another day. Here's wishing another sober 24 to all.

Sober today! Went to not one but two meetings yesterday. It made me feel good just being there. Keeps me out of my own head and thoughts which can get me all confused.

Drinking is more for an addict than not being conscious. Drinking is surrendering to that addiction, giving up control, letting ... whatever ... have its way with us perhaps during blackouts.

Drinking is struggling again to find some shard of "me" amid the chaos of the drunk that I can reconstruct (again) into a whole person, who needs to crawl along the path to sobriety (again).

Drinking isn't one drink, just a way not "to be conscious" till some alarm clock wakes us. One drink for an addict may be a lost afternoon, a spell in jail, time in-and-out of awareness of a loved-one's face watching anxiously from some ICU bedside. It may be death. We just don't know where that one drink will take us.

But we do know that drinking is not a solution. Drinking for an addict, like us, adds to whatever problems exist. There are enought already.

Write. Make a mask. Do something physical--physically exhausting (but not physically risky). Go to a dog park or a shelter and exhaust a few dogs. There are mindless safe activities to lose yourself in.

Go, get lost, in some way that will help but a way you can come back from & won't have to pay or suffer any more for.

Roadie

At 3 to 4 months, the psychological comfort is still there. Don't let it throw you. Check the literature, you'll see it's common so take strength in that. You can hang on!
