Shakes won’t kill us, a little insomnia won’t kill us, the fact that it sucks won’t kill us either. But drinking like we do will.

Congratulations on going a day without any alcohol. I know what that takes, and it is no small feat. Good for you.

Just don’t isolate, don’t try to do it all alone. Find a recovery group and tell them what you have just told us. I recommend AA, but any recovery program is better than slowly going crazy all alone.

Chalm, get something sweet to have on hand.

Alcohol turns to sugar in our bodies. So when we quit injesting it, our bodies crave the sugar, and so we think we're cravin the drink. Its amazing how a little chocolate will help ease the cravings.

I lived with chocolate soy milk in my fridge when I first got sober. Don't know why, but it helped with the cravings a lot. And I kept chocolate nuggets in the cupboard. Whatever is your fancy, get it and have it on hand. Soda works well too.

Five days now. Got the chocolate soy milk. Aint' that bad. And some dove chocolates. Im not crazy about sweets but they do seem to help some. Thanks for the advice Rayna.

And thanks to all the rest of you.

I will be challenged big time this weekend, when i go to visit friends. It's sort of a ritual to drink and be merry with us all. Im going with a few bottles of sprite and thats it.

Thanks again for the support ya'll

Hope that you find a good support group.

Just remember that all you have to do is not drink for today. Try not to project into the future. It truly is 24 hours at a time, and sometimes and hour, minute, and second at a time.

thoughts are with you

I am so freakin impressed with how hard you are trying chalm. This is all a learning process isn't it? Are we not human? Do we not need practice to get things right now and again? Do we not have times when we are tempted beyond our limits of strength? Of course these things happen. You are learning to be strong and stay alcohol free. You have learned this weekend that it's not good for you to be in the mix of it all. The temptation is still too strong for you to walk away from. That was lesson number one.

Lesson number two is to come up with a plan of what you can do to help yourself when you are in those kinds of situations. Examples, go for a walk, eat some chocolate instead, do cartwheels, chase some kids around playing tag, meditate, go hug someone....gosh the list is endless!!

Hang on tight chalm.....I know you can overcome this and anything that comes your way. YOU HAVE THE POWER!!!

Love & Hugs to you!
Jean
