Hi everyone! I've been smoking for about 6 years now. I used to abuse alkohol and drugs aswell but I have been clean from drugs for about 3 years and I can control my drinking. Now I want to quit smoking because I've realized how damaging it is and what a huge impact it has on my finances... I've tried quiting before but I get super angry and tend to hurt people when I start craving. Any advice that might be of use?

You can try the patches. There are different ones out there for you to try. They start at a higher dose, to help you wean -- you use the higher dose patch for awhile, and then use the lower dose.

These are expensive tho. But if you're really committed to quitting, they're worth it! AFter all, smoking will cost you more than the patches in a very short time! Plus if you have insurance, they MIGHT cover it. Check and see.

Just a suggestion. Good luck & God bless. Hugs, Lee

I'm on Wellbutrin XL 150mg twice a day. I used to smoke 5-6 ciggies a day. It stopped me smoking. Other people might give different effects like down to 3-4 ciggies from a pack or something. If you're depressed, then double rewards. Some people can't handle the side effects. A different form not the XL(zyban)was used for that purpose, but side effects caused some headlines.

I have just given up smoking, I use the patches and mist spray.

I believe the e cigarette is good too.

Good luck.

Quitting has always been a battle for me. I'll be good for almost 3 months one of my friends light up a cig in front of me and I have that "itch" or I guess I should say almost like I'm drooling. And blam I'm back to smoking. But I always found just quitting cold turkey or buying LARGE supplies of gum help the most. Lol I'd go through almost 2-3 packs of gum when I tried quitting. Cigs.are my grip on things.

I've been a 20 a day smoker for just over a decade, until the start of this year. I've now gone six months without smoking a cigarette.

Though I haven't gone the full hog of quitting in the true sense, as I tried that several times and always relapsed into smoking, I now use a vaporiser (e-cig). There are several options available and I've tried a few before settling on the Innokin iTaste VV, it's a great bundle for a great price.

I know some people see this as cheating, but frankly I don't care. It has allowed me to keep the habit (which helps lower my stress levels from change to routines) and gives the sensation of smoking and gives me the nicotine at a controlled level, but cuts down the price by a hell of a lot and stops me inhaling deadly chemicals. My 'smokers cough' has completely gone, I can breath much easier and my sense of smell and taste have returned to normal.

For those who want to kick cigs, but are apprehensive about losing the habit or nicotine intake I'd highly recommend them, several of my family and friends have already made the switch since I let them try mine. You can also buy the liquids in varying Nicotine strengths, which allows you to slowly lower your nicotine intake so when you do decide to quit fully it's much easier on your body.

I know what you're going through. Smoking is an addiction. I'm trying to quit myself but when I sit down to have a drink I have to have a cig.

I love the rush and it relaxes me.

I suggest u try the nicotine patches. I don't want to discourage u but they never worked for me.

My doctor recommended Wellbutrin. I have to see if my med insurance will cover some of the costs. Anyway, don't give up on yourself. You are not alone.

Take care...

Regards

Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions! I will try all of them until I find the one that works best for me! Good luck to all of you who still struggle with breaking the habit, and congrats to those who kicked it already! God bless!*

I'm having this same problem, I can barely breathe sometimes I smoke so much. For me, the e-cigs almost work, but I am so addicted I'd rather walk to the store at 3 in the morning than settle for e cigs when I'm depressed.

I think setting the money aside that I would spend on cigarettes and then spending it in the most frivoulous way possible was a fun and rewarding thing to do. Was a fantasy that I could go to in the worst moments.
