I have this tight feeling that happens in my head like the muscles in the back of my neck are tightning up and it feels like my skull is in a vice, this happens when I am watching television, working on the computer sometimes, it is like my brain gets overstimulated, I used to get panic attacks with it, but so far since I have been on Zoloft the panic is less. I was wondering what happens to me might be related to the anxiety and panic or something else. Any help would be appreciated I am just searching for an answer that might help me cope better. Thanks everyone.

Hello There and Welcome,
Although I am no doctor to me it sounds like a few things could be the culprit 1. Could be your vision......I was having similiar problems to yours before and my eye doc gave me an eye test and he said my vision was causing my headaches after looking at TV and Computer or 2. If you get anxious even when you don't realize your anxious you unconciously tighten your muscles sometimes like in your neck, back, or shoulders.....I know this because I do this quite a bit sometimes I don't even realize doing it and if your tense you can definetly get tension headaches. But like Susan said speak with your doctor to be sure. I just wanted to offer a bit of advice and my own experience. Good Luck. Jennifer |

Hello,
It could be anxiety, or just stress in general, is it pain or just muscle tightness? I've had that happen ... if it does not go away talk to your doctor.. also you could have pulled something or pinched something and didn't even realize it. Have you tried heat? That may help , or ice for that matter. <font color=red>~Sundance~</font color=red> <font color=blue>"Never react emotionally to criticism. Analyze yourself to determine whether it is justified. Tracy,
Just thought you might like this passage from Bipolar Disorder Demystified by Lana Castle. Serenity Prayer God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace. Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Take care, Lindsay |

There is no pain associated with it at all, just a tightness like my muscles are tense it is in the back of my head and sometimes goes around the skull area.Like I said I don't panic anymore since they put me on Zoloft, but it is quite uncomformtable, I also get light-headed when this happens, really light-headed I usually have to lie down or get somewhere where it is quiet.

I am sorry to hear about the tightness. I have a suggestion for you. I was a Massage therapist for 10 yrs and I believe you could use a really nice relaxing massage. The therapist can focus more attention to the neck and shoulders and head area. I know it will do you good. Make sure the therapist is a professional and/or licensed to be safe. Maybe your Dr can recommend someone. Hope you feel better soon God Bless.

hmm sounds to me that it is all stress related, maybe your mattress? There could be a number of things that could cause this. I've dealt with it myself many times... I always have tense shoulders, neck, that causes headache etc.
Try some heat, maybe if it's muscle related try Robaxicet and see if that helps? I know if I am really sore, etc I do take that and it helps alot... it is for muscle pain ect... maybe look into that? Or if that doesn't help go make an appt with your doctor, that's my advice. Hope that helps ![]() <font color=red>~Sundance~</font color=red> <font color=blue>"Never react emotionally to criticism. Hey adrenalinerush,
My first thought in rereading your post is that it could have to do with your vision. My eye doc said that was what was causing my headaches after watching tv or computer too long without my glasses. So I don't know if you have been to an eye doc recently but it is worth a shot. Either way you should let you primary doc know I wouldn't be alarmed about it but just let them know and see what they have to say too. Good Luck! Keep us posted! Jennifer |

I found a web site that answered my question for me, it says. The feeling of having a tight band around the head is caused by the muscular tension in the sheath of muscles covering the skull. This was on a panic website. I noticed the tension settles down when I get into a more quiet situation and a dark room. I also get this tightness when getting into bright lights like in a store, I started wearing sunglasses and it has helped a lot. Thanks to everyone for the advice.
