Hello. I have to practice music with my group twice a week and panic attacks come every time we play. My mom doesn't care that I get them, and I feel terrible getting them and I fear getting a panic attack all the time. I don't want to go perform, but I do at the same time. I love music, but not panic attacks. It sucks. I didn't get one this week because I didn't know what I was playing. I am so scared. I want to continue to grade 12 in it, but can't deal with the panic attacks. Any suggestion?

hi Nike007

I am sorry that you are having panic attacks. Breathing slowly and regularly into a paper bag has helped a lot of people. Also making yourself notice things in your environment distracts from the feeling and prevents the attack. Have you tried therapy for this? CBT therapy is very good and you can Google, one for your area. How about medication? Perhaps the Dr. could help with this. I hope and pray this does improve for you in the future. Have a really great day. God bless and best wishes from your friend Francis

Hello. I am currently in CBT and on Lexapro. Lexapro only helps for the generalized part of my social anxiety, and has become a lot better. I don't really want to go off of it because of the performance based stuff.

Also, I have never used a paper bag and would feel embarrassed in front of so many people. Also, I have been trying to distract myself during them.

I've been getting a lot of attacks when I'm around crowds and noise and too much stimulation! I don't know how to stop them either!
