Does anyone else have anxiety attacks that hit them like a sledgehammer? I can just be sitting watch tv, and wham! Hard to function like this. Any suggestions?

I have more general anxiety and not the attacks you describe. Just wanted to let you know that I read your post and that I've seen other posts from people that experience similar attacks...

Hi Ubekidn

yes i absolutely know what you are talking about... my anxiety attacks never seem to be triggered by anything at all, i am usually just fine, like you say watching tv, or at work and then BAM... major anxiety for no apparent reason... and these attacks usually last for hours if not days... its exhausting... and practically impossible to function...

it got so bad about 3 years ago that i sought out counselling, and although i am still suffering, its no where near as bad... or i guess to clarify, it can feel as bad, but the effects dont last as long... i feel more able to cope with it...

you are definitely not alone... take care... Nikki x

oh yes I can so relate it can be so scary...usually people say to find the trigger...well I have no trigger either it just happens while I'm watching t.v (a comedy) I thought it was the kind of shows I'm watching but it didn't matter. I think I'm getting used to them I just say to myself "oh great, here we go again" they also say it will just stop one day just like they started. Accepting them I think is part of the key and saying to yourself..it will pass it's just my anxiety it won't hurt me. I know easier said then done, but don't worry to much about them, that might be our trigger. Good luck! Out of the blue

I so agree with everyone. Mine come out of the blue, for no apparent reason, with no trigger. They also wake me up at night. From what I have read and have learned through councelling, this is one of the "signs" that it is a panic attack. You are not alone!!! Out of the blue Out of the blue
