So this happens to me every now and then usually only for a day or so but at its worst for a week making me get about an hour of sleep a night for a week, and as I woke up a few minutes ago and this was happening just wanted to vent a little and see if anyone has anything similar.

Ocassianly when I'm trying to sleep or if I wake up in the night I will suddenly get completely terrified of going to sleep, convinced that as soon as I do I will have a heart attack and die in my sleep. And even though I know it's my brain doing this I can never seem to calm myself and usually have to find something to distract me for long enough to calm down enough to sleep again.

Hello clearhit: Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night & I feel so nervous I cannot stay in bed or go back to sleep. I get up & do walking meditation for an hour or so. I walk slowly throughout the dark & quiet house focusing light attention on each foot as it touches the floor. Thoughts come-&-go. I don't try to prevent them from coming up, but I don't dwell on them either. I simply let them fade away at their own pace. Typically after an hour or so of this, I'm able to go back to bed & get back to sleep.

I've been having this too. I either think about family dying and lately myself. Any little twinge around my chest I start to go to that place. I happens during the day but not as bad. The thoughts are so intense that I can't sleep. They keep going over and over in my mind. It really is more of an anxiety attack with everything I feel. It's hard to sleep when it gets that way. Distraction is what helps. I try something and if it doesn't work I go onto something else. And breathing exercises do help too.

Yeah it sucks a lot, but i didn't think about it till your post but maybe it might have a little to do with my Adderall prescription however I had this prescription for almost a year before this starred happening.

I feel you

I feel like I'm going to stop breathing, heart attack, stroke, etc.
Sometimes I wake up gasping for air, or because my heart is racing,
I've had sleep paralysis, where it seems I"m fully conscious but still asleep, with immense fear something is trying to "possess" me or kill me. It sucks so bad!

About a month ago, I started having the worst anxiety at night before bed. I do not know what was causing this. I was afraid to turn off the tv, afraid to fall asleep. It's insane bc I have always slept in pitch dark. I just feel as though I am really starting to have some rebound anxiety. I have been clean for 7 months off of benzos/suboxone/ also Paxil, but of course, the first few months of this was hell. However, the last 3 months or so I've been much better, until this past few weeks. Anxiety from hell. Generalized & specific. Mostly about someone hurting my toddler. It's just awful. scared to sleep?

Oh also, I noted that you took a pain pill before this happened. Everyone is different, but pp's always gave me a bit of anxiety.

Figured I'd post a little update thing since this has started happening to me again, haven't slept at night for the past month almost. Seems to be mostly occurring are night however if I don't fall asleep relatively fast when I do try to sleep I start having anxiety again, which makes me worry about the fact that I'm worrying and keeps me awake which makes me worry about my body not getting enough sleep....it's a vicious cycle. thankfully I'm able to sleep weird hours with my schedule so lately I've been sleeping from between 7 and 9 AM until around 2 or 3pm
