This was entirely my fault, so I'm not asking for any sympathy here - I don't deserve it. Work again But I need to write it down.

For those of you that don't know, I recently started work as a cashier at the local supermarket. Because I'm not 18 yet, I got told on my first day that I'm to ask someone over 18 before selling alcohol to anyone, but after a couple of weeks I realised that nobody else does this, plus it's sometimes hard to find anyone over 18 on the checkouts, so I stopped. I thought nobody minded until last night. My supervisor came over to me after I'd scanned through a bottle of wine to a guy who must have been in his mid 40s, and reminded me that I had to ask before selling alcohol - and told me that all her managers had just seen me selling it without asking first. Work again I was really scared, and I only just managed to stop myself panicking thanks to the breathing exercises my therapist had taught me (my voice was still shaking, though - I was lucky nobody asked me about it Work again), and even after my supervisor came over later and told me it wasn't really a big deal, I still couldn't stop worrying about it. Work again

I still feel awful about it now, but I don't deserve to feel any better. Work again Stupid *****. Work again

I don't want to go back! Work again

((((((((((((((((((Rio))))))))))))))))) honey......

We all make mistakes in life and our jobs love. Please please please.....don't be so hard on yourself. This is all a part of learning hon.....and learning involves making mistakes and moving on. Nobody is perfect....thank goodness! How boring life and the world would be if we were.

I hope you can learn how to pick yourself up after making a mistake, dusting yourself off and moving forward. When making a mistake, the best thing is to learn from it. It's more of a mistake if you don't learn from it hon.

Gentle hugs to you dear one......you did awesome with using your breathing techniques....keep up the great work hon!

Work again

(((((((sabau))))))) Thanks.

I guess that's true, but I could have got my supervisor into trouble...I was worried I'd get fired for a while! Work again And I'm not very good at not being hard on myself. Work again But that's a good point.

It's funny, with my violin playing I've never had a problem with making mistakes - I'll just carry on and finish the piece - but with anything else it turns me into a wreck. Work again I'm definitely going to try and ask about alcohol from now on, though! Even though I hate bothering the other staff, and it can be hard to find anyone to ask anyway. Work again

Thanks! This was just the start of a bad evening at work - I also had cheques that didn't print, a card reader that broke down and a till that wouldn't let me sign off - guess I should be proud of myself that I didn't burst into tears and run out the store, or something. Work again Work again

I agree with Sabau, we all make mistakes, thats what life is about learning from our mistakes. I am certain you will be extra careful next time and you won't have to constantly worry.

Take gentle care,
Dee

(((((mybestkids2))))) Thanks, that's true. This is one of the bigger mistakes I've made, though...I really hope I haven't got my supervisor into trouble... Work again

Seems to me that if they thought it was a really bad thing, they would have done more than just talk to you about it. Hon, don't go looking for trouble...it always has a way of showing up without us looking for it Work again

Sounds like you had a night like I've been having all week at work. I'm exhausted this week and I still have Friday to go..LOL.

Good for you for not breaking down with all the problems you faced on your shift. Some days just go like that and seem like it's all fighting against you. Not to worry though, for those times shall pass and you will be having a better time of it soon!

Maybe you can find a way to equate life with playing your violin. With each note and piece you learn by making your mistakes with the music, the same thing happens with real life too. Every new piece you learn can be equated to each lesson in life.....practicing the notes helps you play the piece better and builds the foundation to learn the next harder piece. Learning lifes lessons and practicing those lessons gives you a better foundation for the next life lesson. Work again

You are doing a great job Rio.....pat yourself on the back for a job well done!

Work again

Hugsss

(((RIO))). Congratulations on your Job. just call someone over that is 18 to scan alcohol for you. Life is about learning through mistakes. Take time and do the right thing and just call someone over to scan the alcoholic beverages. Calm down and try to move on, everyone makes mistakes. Take care. Soidhonia

Thanks, sabau, I guess that's true. And good point! Work again

Sorry about that, hope Friday went ok! There's always things that go wrong at work, just normally not quite that many in one night! Work again

Thanks. That's true. Work again And I hope so!

That's a good way of looking at it. Work again Although I can't help thinking that making a wrong note isn't as big a deal as annoying a customer at work or a driver on my driving lessons...Work again

Thanks! Work again

(((Soidhonia))) Thanks. I do now - it must annoy the other staff, but I'd rather that than get another talking-to! Work again I still think it's strange that there are people younger than me there who never ask about alcohol, but maybe that's because they've been there longer. Thanks, that's true.
