i'm not usually the anxiety type, but i've been having vertigo since last wednesday. it's off and on every 2 days. last sunday, i ended up in the e.r. because of this, since the vertigo made me sick twice. it's the only symptom i have, and i'm only 35. i had a stroke on december 2005. that's why i'm terrified. since, i have no neurological symptoms for the docs to suspect this, i'm still terrified. the vertigo triggers memories of being a medical mystery for many months and not knowing if i was going to live or not. at least the meds work. as i was hit with the spinning sensation, i took my meds right away, so i'm waiting for them to kick in. i take no comfort that i'm ok. the world can be a brutal place to live in.

That's horrible, wickedwings. I know how stressful the vertigo alone can be, I had Meniere's Syndrome and did the random vertigo and vomiting thing for a few years without knowing when (or if) it would stop.

Can you have your old docs check out the neurological stuff anyway, make sure there's no relationship? Maybe it's not "pure" vertigo. Could be your eyes or ears though too, get them checked out (they're not so "scary"). I know after my appendix burst and they took 5 months getting rid of infection which was doing a mystery thing, when my granddaughter was born in the same hospital and we wen't to visit her, I had to use the "same" elevator as when I was in the hospital for a week and I felt like someone was going to grab me and "keep me" in the hospital again; I "joked" with my husband, made him promise he wouldn't let them "get me" :-)

Has it resolved itself or have you found out more?

i'm doing better now. thanks for your support, perna. ((((hugs)))) slowly, the anxiety died down. i still get the vertigo. it just comes off and one, every other day, skipping a day in between. i've read that it can take weeks for it to go away. if not, i'll go to an otologist. i've had no other symptoms other than this spinning of vertigo, and the meclizine takes care of it with no problems.
