I do not have ADD or ADHD. But i have found that taking adderol gives me energy, curves my appetite(therefore, i lose weight), and makes me in a better mood. I was addicted to it before i got pregnant and then i stopped taking it. It was easy to stop then because i had a great reason to stop but now that i have a little more baby weight to lose i am getting addicted to it again and don't want to stop. I know it probably isn't safe for me to take it but it is the quickest and easiest way to lose the weight. So any advice?

Other than some bad press recently linking adderall to some previously unnoticed side effects in children, everything I've read about adderall indicates it has been used for years without any serious addiction.
I've used it for 2 years with no problems.
For me, though, it doesn't curb my appetite, so you may find that part will wear off for you eventually.

I have been taking focalinxr for a few months for ADD. I have felt less stress about the state of my life, but have not noticed any appetite suppressant effect. I guess I think taking any medication even aspirin is a risk; I don't like taking my antidepressant, antianxiety and ADD meds but I am functioning with them, so I do. I also take a fair amount of aspirin, ibuprofen and aceptaminophen because I have sciatica, arthritis and foot pain from a congenital foot problem. I try to limit them so they don't lose their effectiveness. I know we have been told there is no such thing as addiction to aspirin etc but I am afraid I will be developing a tolerance and have to increase doses and since I have been taking various prescription meds for over 20 years, I worry about the state of my liver. Alcoholism runs in my family so I have a good excuse there to abstain. Even with vitamins I worry about the additives and preservatives. I don't give my daughter any beef or pork because I am worried about our food supply. I guess what I am trying to say we have to have a skeptical approach to anything we put in our body. Guarantees of safety of our food supply and medications are a thing of the past--if they ever existed. If this were not true, lawyers would not be making millions off class action suits for fen-phen, vioxx, celebrex and the rest I cannot remember right now. I think a consumer group that said you should consider yourself a guinea pig for the first 10 years a drug is on the market. Actually I think it was Dr. Sidney Wolfe of the Consumer Reports Medical organization that said it. Nobody really can guarantee the safety of these drugs until they are on the market and used for years. No individual person will know for sure a drug is safe and effective for him until he takes it. So it's definitely still a buyer beware market. Good luck with whatever you decide.

What advice do you want? If you don't want to stop taking it, you don't want to stop taking it. How can someone else "make you" want that? You stopped before and I imagine if you think of the long haul, how it might hurt you (and thus your child/ren and others you love either directly or indirectly) and health problems you're no doubt buying, money being "wasted," etc. it may (or may not) get you to decide to stop again. If you have trouble stopping you might need professional help. There are no shortcuts or free lunches with weight loss or any health problems. Losing weight for looks is hardly a very worthwhile life goal? The ends don't justify the means either.

They can become addictive, taking them without therapy ADHD or ADD can be dangerous. Think do you really need them. You should not take medicine unless it is really necessary!
