I can't do this. I'm so scattered brain, ive been losing things (including my mind), not being able to find words, losing thoughts before they even can be fully formed and stuff has been flying out of my brain and I haven't being able to retain anything. I've only known that I have ADHD for a little over 6 months and for right now there is no option for treatment and I'm feeling so frustrated and hopeless about it

Unfortunately no I'm not, I can't afford it right now :/ I know it's not the "fix all" but with my ADHD friends it helps a lot. I wish I could be though, I can't even imagine how much it would help. Thanks for the understanding

I hear your frustration. I need to write things down. NOW I KNOW to use only one notebook!! Having too many around caused the panic to surface. Be kind to yourself. The world may make demands of you that seem scatterbrained. Do ONE thing at a time.
HENCEFORTH >>> No more can you brush you teeth and make the bed.. That might make a fine TV show for speeding around the house in record time but it really did nothing to ready me quicker for work in the early morning. Do One thing at a time. Example: Celebrate washing the dishes. Celebrate that you can do this.

I use my phone. I can take pictures of dates, write down appointments, set reminders and alarms to go to the appointments I wrote down. Autocorrect can be really annoying, but more often than not, it is a really handy and fast way to fix my spelling issues. |

Thanks for the help! I have started writing note reminders on my iPod, which helps. Writing on scraps of paper does get lost with me although for school I did write notes in notebooks which is easier for me to study because I had the actual notes to look through. I do this for meetings too (but I have notebooks for each different area).
Autocorrect is my best friend while typing, it would take me twice as long to type of I didn't have it! |

If you really can't afford the treatments/don't have insurance/etc, there are often many clinics/offices that offer sliding scales for therapy or free services based on income. Also, depending on your income, you may be able to get medication for free or a highly discounted rate by applying to your prescribed medication's manufacture. Doctors can often give samples so you can see if the med actually works for you before applying, too. Also, if you still go to school, many colleges have mental health facilities that they often make available for free for a number of sessions.
It sucks that the cost of mental health treatment is so high. I don't have insurance either, so I understand what stress you are feeling.

How are you doing today? Any rain on your parade? What one FINE thing did you do today, that one thing that you enjoyed? Ideas... include, petting the dog, walk around the house, flatten yourself against the wood floor to let the calm enter your body? I went outside just after a powerful thunderstorm. I took ten minutes to weed a patch from the side drive. Quiet........ Cool........ no Conversation. Thinkin of you.

I have gone through my entire life trying to hide my obvious ADD or more likely SCT from my family husband friends employers and teachers. I thought I was going mad... And I was scared and ashamed of my inability to think straight and to remember basic things as they would leave my mind really quickly. I consider myself intelligent and others have re-iterated this, But it is a struggle with my concentration. problems recalling information I have never been a great speller or good at math. I trained to be a chef and when it came to exams I tried so hard to compensate with my disadvantages that I sat in a café for 2 hours drummed all the info into my brain best I could before the morning test and consequently was top of my class with marks. But was un able to retain that info as I needed it after that and had to keep referring to text books etc. Life has been a challenge.I have never had great energy levels and tend to be in a bit of a hazey daydream most of the time. (like living in a bubble) My daughter and grand daughter obviously have ADD but the more active kind and they are more academic. I have not had treatment as I did not know this was my problem until now and having made the realization that this has been my problem has brought me huge relief . ( I just burst in to tears) It all makes sense to me now and I can get some help. I realize now why I have aways said to people , I might not do things the way every one else does but I have come to see that its the way I do things and it makes me who I am...

I like the rain for its calming constant sound. seems soothing to me, also at the same time it gives a mental image per say of all the stuff flying around my head, wishing I could make it all flow in one direction like the rain.

Maybe I should start writing on my hand. When I worked as an emt I use to fill up my glove with all the information I needed to fill out my paperwork after the call was over, such as blood pressure and different things. nothing personal such as birth date , people always use to say you write so much stuff on your glove. But if I didn't I would forget it.Maybe I need to make it a habit again.

About the cost of drugs.
![]() I talked to my physician. Her assistant called the lab. Cross-referenced the $$ cost with the pharmacy. A time release tablet was MUCH less expensive than capsule of Adderal. Face the facts, while admitting to yourself, that you are worth it. After-all, how much do you spend on ......... say, magazines or getting your nails done? Just saying, it was/is worthwhile for me, at this time, to spend on ME.

On top of that, the name brand and generic time release pills were exactly the same. Why even have generic lol. So I just instant release tablets.
