Maybe the idea is you take this test when you know / suspect you're on the path o mania.

Most of know when we're in an episode, right, or am I assuming? My score was pretty accurate.

It doesn't differentiate dysphoric/euphoric mania though, which I think would be interesting. But then again, I can figure that out on my own if I pay attention.
You could take the goldberg depression test too and see. I've taken it a few times and it says I'm both but, those tests are very silly

Speaking seriously though, maybe the absolute numbers in these tests mean little, but the deltas are meaningful - in other words, if you keep taking the test weekly and you see a jump from 20 to 40, that would be significant information, whereas the absolute figures 20 and 40 by the themselves, pointwise, tell you nothing.

I got a 54!!

You appear to be suffering from symptoms associated with severe mania. These symptoms appear to be causing you some serious impairment and distress in your normal, everyday functioning. You would likely benefit from the immediate attention of your physician or a trained mental health professional for further evaluation.

Ohh noo I am not in need of immediate attention. Yeah really you would have to be dead, I don't *think* I am manic at all, but I have been wrong before. And the end of summer has always been the worst time for mania for me. But I think I'm ok.

I scored 79

apparently I shoulda gonna to nearest hospital... and probably be locked forever (and have church organ flutes that looked like missiles taken away).

I just took it and got a 55.

However I also just took the depression test (which can be found in the Quizzes area,) and I got a 50.

The mania test is the same one in the quiz area here. You can save your results and track yourself.
If you scored...
You may have...54 & up
Severe depression 36 - 53
Moderate/severe depression 22 - 35
Mild to moderate depression 18 - 21
Borderline depression 10 - 17
Possible mild depression 0 - 9
No depression likely

Yeah. Took both. On the depression one (even "cheering up" a few) it was 79. Severely depressed. No surprise there. At all. Took the mania one (ya know, the theme of the thread, lol), 25. Though all these things with salt, it was still intriguing for a few "other camp" symptoms that've had me wondering. Those would be sleep disturbance and agitation, which are both waaaay out of line. A bit of yappiness, but only on here, probably because I'm going bats*** and feeling very isolated. Mixed, yeah probably. It's been ugly.

You're a hoot h-b!
Beverage Alert? I'd vote for that!

I'm mixed about 90% of the time actually... It is the great mystery of my bipolar and will remain a mystery until I can get back to treatment. I didn't used to be this way, I used to be clearly manic or clearly depressed, now I seem to always be both. Not sure what changed, but it makes me very volitile emotionally, why I have dysphoric mania, my self-care has deminished quite noticably, it's part of why I have such difficulty reading, and why I track myself very closely.

Darkheart, i was the same until this last year. Always mixed, dysphoric mania or whatever they want to call it. So i really do feel for you there. Not only is it a horrible state to be in, but it really really complicates the med treatment as well which i am sure you are more than fully aware.

I did that dance for about 7 years. I really lost my ability to understand why anyone would welcome mania. But just remember that it can also turn around. I thought the rest of my life was going to look like that. But it has turned around, finally. I really hope the same will happen for you. I hooe you can get treatment soon. Even with all the treatment I had, that didnt really help me too much. The meds always incresed the symptoms, or made me into such a zombie that i really wasn't functioing aside from psychomotor aggitation. I know some people are luckier with the meds than i was.
Thanks for this!

This is a relief to hear. I'm currently not on meds or anything, so life is all about avoiding triggers as much as possible. My hopes that the healthcare system here is going to get better are pretty much gone, so I just have to wait until either I'm so poor I can be on assistance or so rich I can afford to do it myself. I try to avoid the first (for my family's sake,) and highly doubt the second....
