I experienced a new feeling today. I became very confused about what was going on around me and what to do at the moment.
This morning, during church, I was helping with serving communion, a job I do at least once a month. Before serving the congregation, the helpers and music team are served, standing in a line, getting the bread first and then waiting for the juice to dip it in after everyone has been served the bread. I got my bread first, and all of the suddent I didn't know what to do next. I watched the lady standing next to me and she was just standing there waiting, but I still went ahead and put my bread to my mouth to eat it. Fortunately I stopped myself before actually getting it all in, and I told the lady next to me not to worry, I wouldn't really dip! Then, after that, we move down to the front of the congregation to wait for the line of people to go through. I went the wrong direction, and my helper lady had to call me over to straighten me out. I managed to get through the rest without doing anything foolish, but when my husband came through, I realized that I had no emotion or care that I knew him. Strange, huh? The rest of the afternoon I have had a dull headache, feel depressed, and have taken a nap. Because it's my brain acting funny, I wonder if my psych meds are causing this; however, I also take blood pressure and cholesterol meds. I haven't changed psych meds for a while. I did change the blood pressure medicine about a month ago, and called the doc. because of being extremely sleepy, and she said to cut it in half. I looked up other side effects for this med, but I didn't find confusion listed as one. Has anyone else experienced confusion wth the bp? I don't know if I should bother calling the doc, and if I do, I don't know which one to call! Bluemountains |

That sounds like it was a pretty scary experience, sorry to here that you had to go through that.
![]() It could be the psych meds our on, you didn't list any of them so it's hard to tell if that's what it could be. I've found a lot of the AP's can leave you feeling confused and spacey, and lamictal also missed with my cognitive abilities. I would call your pdoc and discuss this The Wolf

zoloft (100 mg) wellbutrin (forget dosage right now) klonopin (1.0-1.5 each day) And yes, I think I will contact the pdoc. She always calls me back directly, while the gdoc sends messages through her nurse. |

That sounds like a good idea. I know some of the meds can make you foggy and stuff like that but totally confused that seems odd. MAybe its just an off day for you. I hope it gets better soon.

Honestly, I get like that quite a bit. I did before I ever started on meds. Although I don't see why meds couldn't cause it. I get, episodes, for lack of a better word, when I feel completely disconnected. I even feel disconnected from my own body. I lose most connection to feelings about things, people, and it's just really hard to explain. Of course, that could be because of the schizoaffective, but idk. Just want you to know you're not alone.

After seeking advice from my family dr., her concern is that it is may be a physical problem, something circulatory like a mini stroke, etc. I am going in for a check up tomorrow.

The thing that bothers me that is similar is the that I mess up my words all of the time. For example, I might say, I need to go to the store, but may mean that I need to go to the library. Also, I get a lot of exercise going up or down the stairs trying to figure out what I went there for in the first place.

An update:
I went to the see the doctor. Good news is that I no longer have to take blood pressure medicine. I had already been decreasing the amount over time, so good food and exercise has helped. The bad news is that I have to have an MRI to see what is going on. Possibilities, ministroke, MS, etc., or, my vote, nothing-just a couple of weird happenings. We discussed the psych meds. Yes, there is a very slight possibility that the lamictal could cause the dizziness, but since the episode I experienced recently was isolated it probably is not the case. None of my meds can be blamed for the confusion episode. So I am still stuck with wondering what is going on. Bluemountains |
