It's kept around 36'c or about 96'f I think for my faherheit friends, for the last week or so. I have no airconditioning at my house. It feels like my brain and body are melting. I am getting extremely frustrated with the whole thing. My house work is not getting done, my house is a totall disaster. And when my house is chaos my mind starts to become chaos. Just very disorganised, my memory starts to slide etc. And I do that whole guilt thing about my lack of getting my stuff done.
Ever see that episode of Married With Children where they set up camp in the grocery store for the airconditioning. I am about there. I have managed to keep on top of my fitness goals do two workouts in the evening, and a run. But in order to run I have had to go at about 10pm, cause there is no way I am going at 6am. It's too hot to go any other time. Working out when it's 30 degrees inside is bad enough.. I mean you get a really good sweat but yuck. My son and I ran 5.12 k the night before last clocked at 35 min. So I was feeling pretty good about that. It's not that fast but for my first two weeks of running thats not that bad i think. I've been neglecting my yoga since all these injuries. Someone just tell me to get my yoga on because I need a kick in the butt. I start to get nervous around summer because that is where I have hit my worst and longest manic/psychotic periods. Too much sun, too much light, too much disorganised routine. I know that yoga keeps my head and feet on the ground but I think I got a fear thing going on from the not so mild injuries I had. Soo I need someone to tell me to just do it. Some tough love I dunno. Don't know why I am having such a hard time with this. ![]() And I just don't wanna go to work. I know I am being taken advantage of there pretty boldly and it does not make me want to show up and work hard anymore. I will show up and work hard because I have to but man, I really don't enjoy it right now. Maybe if they had airconditioning haha. If there is typos I appologise. Phone is just to small for my eyes.

I don't know where you live, but I live in Texas and we are at 95f and looking at triple digits later in the week. I can't imagine doing it with out airconditioning. No wonder you are not doing very well. You are stronger than I am. If my a/c goes out I go to a hotel. I hope you get some relief from the heat soon.

Thanks Gayle. I live in Canada but in one of our semi arid deserts. I have not had ac since we moved here almost ten years ago. They are so expensive and I rent so It would also mean blocking out my windows, which I think would make me start to feel down. I know I am pretty sensitive to light and darkness and visual things in my environment.
A testament to my truly craziness to opt to not buy an ac. ![]() Hope it cools for you too a bit.. unless you are enjoying it ![]()

No I hate the heat. And it probably won't cool off until late September. Ugh! I stay inside as much as possible. That is understandable about not wanting one in the window, but I would have to have one someway or other. hee hee. I am not a nice person when I get hot

I'm a native Texan, and have fondly listened to my mother talk about surviving the Texas heat prior to air conditioning. They did all housework in the morning, and then they'd all gather in front of a fan and drink iced tea in the afternoon. Kids took lots of baths in the afternoons or played in kiddie pools.
I spent a miserably hot summer in East Texas in an un-air conditioned apartment during college. We spent the afternoons in whatever industrial air conditioning we could find: student union, library, church youth house, mall, whatever worked. We were quite creative about it. At night, I would jump in the shower in a t shirt just prior to going to bed, go to bed wet, and let evaporation do its stuff while I went to sleep. |

I lived in Texas, too, in mid 1990s. Texas is now set up for dealing with heat. A really hot summer in New York or Moscow is much worse than a really hot summer in Texas, because those cities are somehow not set up to handle heat. It is really weird since those do get hot (2010 Russian wildfires - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia was an emergency with a lot of deaths, but even outside of emergencies, summers can be hot), but somehow live in denial and do not have the right infrastructure (unlike Texas).
Anika, I would be half-dead under these conditions. I am amazed that you run, still. |

I know that people in Iran, Uzbekistan, and other such countries with hot summers drink HOT tea all day long.

Ick! I hate hot beverages even in the winter. I can't imagine drinking hot tea in 100 plus weather!

It's in the 90 degree F range here as well every day. We splurged this yar and bought a tiny AC unit for ourroom. We've never had it before and melt and die and can't sleep. It only cools the bedroom but it's so nice. We have a swamp cooler for the living room but it's breaking, we think.
I swell up and turn purple when I'm hot so I hate summer. Only like q1 monrth more and it will be fall. ![]()

I too was surprised to learn that that is how they deal with the heat, but apparently, per the explanation I was given, it actually makes sense to drink hot liquids. I just do not recall the exact rationale, but it did make sense.

Ohh ice is a good idea, thanks guys. I heard of people putting a bowl of ice in front of the fans. I do drink hot drink in hot weather. I love my coffee and have been drinking a lot of green tea. It is said to suppose to help cool the body. Can't remember the reasoning either Hammy.
Looks like quite a few of us are battleing the heat right now. I just hate the sluggish feeling. Dh...Fm old habits die hard. ![]() I think it was all that hot yoga for the last two years, the 40 degrees and 40% humidity Hammy that allows me to still run. You do adjust to pushing your body in the heat. And I know that it's only for an hour or so But knowing that this heat is for months with no place to escape to is whats doing me in. I am sure it's part mental as well. The more I say it's too hot the worse it feels. Well I don't know, its hard to find time to fit in everything too. I do a workout in the evenings and a run I could possibly fit a yoga session in the mornings. I just have to get motivated and go to bed at a decent hour instaed of 3 am so I can get up 5 on work days. And days off dont matter as much but maybe if I just get started I will be able to keep it going. Starting is always the hardest part for me. My oldest son has been working out with me and doing a few runs with me and that has been really nice and awesome. We have been having fun doing that. I will just have to remind myself of how good I will feel after the yoga. Think I can get up and do it at 5am tomorrow? Ohh ha well I will do my best not to hit snooze. I might try that bath with ice tonight...sounds pretty tempting. I have been going to the stores near my house more frequently but I dunno they are starting to look at me kinda funny.

Oh yeah...did I mention my mother is coming this weekend!
![]() I really better get doing the yoga.. I am gonna need that extra grounding. Some of you might remeber my stories of her and my always trying to figure out how to have a relationship with her. Why did it always escape me till a few weeks ago that she is most likely a Narc through and through. I don't like labeling people or dx'ing anyone. But that might also be why I never found a good way to deal with her. Sorry I'm in one of my overly talkative ways today.

Sorry sis, only saw your thread now
![]() GET YOUR HINEY TO YOGA ASAP!!!! So sorry the weather is screwing with how you feel, I'm freezing and not very good at getting up for work, I keep thinking of excuses to not go in. Thankfully I haven't surrendered to the temptation! Don't stress about mum please, we both know that she will stress you out whether she can eat off your floor or you have a new species colonizing your house. Thinking about you ![]()
