So about 7 months ago I went into a depression. I started tweaking with my meds. I only see my psych nurse once a month. I've been tweaking with my meds since I've been seeing her. Well everything was going ok then I started not sleeping. I went into a mixed episode. I frantically increased some meds and decreased others. I went and saw her and I guess I could have overdosed on one of them. I was just trying to sleep.
Does anybody else have as difficult a time with sleep as I do? Long story I went to the hospital for 10 days. I was doing ok on sleep but should have stayed. Now a couple weeks later and I'm not sleeping well again. I'm on high, high dose of trazadone and take 100 mgs of visteral too. She won't tweak meds over the phone anymore for me. She has no openings until October 21st. Now I will get a full nights rest if I add on zyprexa. But I really don't want to bc of increase in appetite. She has said I could go back to this horrible hospital. It's horrible there though. Lots of hard core drug addicts and stuff. Should I go? I don't think I'll be able to get into the good hospital again... Support and advice needed. I'm soooo tired.... What would you do? Last edited by Anonymous100205; Sep 26, 2014 at 05:57 PM. Has she given you any advice about joining an outpatient program instead of full hospitalization? I couldn't bear the thought of being hospitalized and was offered a full time outpatient program which allowed me to have my life, go home at night while still getting intense therapy eight hours a day, group and some private, and medication adjustments.

Hope you get some relief. This is not really my business I guess, but I do NOT go for nurse psych types. I think you need a fully accredited pdoc.

Yeah it sucks. I should have never messed with my meds. Yes I need a actual psychiatrist. I'm gonna wait until Monday to go in bc I think then I'll have a better chance of getting into the higher quality hospital. At this one it's clean, decent food, activities throughout the day. Coloring books for adults for the evenings. Decent nurses, decent staff. I always learn something new in groups though. Can have your own clothes and makeup, perfume etc...
In the other one is filthy, hardcore drug addicts, hard core homeless ppl, mean nurses, mean staff, I feel really bad for the seriously mentally ill. It's just a horrible place and I'm not trying to be a snob bc I'm not at all. It just really increases my anxiety with all the yelling and mean nurses. Can only wear the sweats they provide, no makeup, can only use their deodorant etc...it sucks... Thanks for your support. ![]() |

Hope you find yourself in the better place and a Pdoc is able to find a workable solution to your insomnia. Have you done some research on common sleep meds and AP's so you will have a bit of basic information ?
Also its always helpful to have a list of medications you have taken in the past and why you stopped them IP Pdocs really love seeing a list like that. Good luck

Well I was in the hospital for 8 days. Consensus is bp 1, PTSD and sleep apnea. I'm waiting for the sleep study to come through. I'm on a waiting list I guess.
They did all they could about the sleep. I'm on so many meds to sleep. Pls don't judge me but I'm on, trazadone, zyprexa, visteral. I've tried seroquel but gained 50lbs on it. And it makes me feel really drugged up the next day. The one that seems to help the most is 5mgs of zyprexa. But I'm eating so freaking much. I can go a night w/o it and sleep but if I go longer I don't sleep. I didn't sleep much last night bc it had been 2 days without it. I'm thinking of dropping one of my risperdal and seeing if that cuts back on the hunger. What meds help you guys sleep? |
