I am in a relationship and have been since July last year. It is amazing that it has survived as I have been IP a total of 2 months since then. I lucked out and found an understatnding, caring man. It still amazes me that he has not run for the hill yet. I guess it is all about finding the right person. The relationship is still under stress but managing quite well considering. I have tried to push him away when i am really down but he wont leave me. Maybe he is the crazy one? All I know is that I am one very lucky girl.

I would like one but haven't dated in a few years. It's difficult for me not just because of bipolar, but I'm schizoid too.

Thanks for the replies. I am completely paranoid about meeting someone and trying to date. I sometimes try to keep things simple and just have a casual thing but that never works out either.
That is great you found someone, Wander. |

Since my divorce 2 years ago I tried to be in a relationship but it didn't work out. I doubt I'll be in another, kinda hard to meet people when you only leave the house to go to work.

I'm lucky enough to be married for almost 13 years. Yes, there were some rough patches but things have gotten better since my bipolar diagnosis almost a year ago. Before that, I had a hard time controlling my irritability (I didn't know why I was angry most of the time, but took it out on people at home because I knew I couldn't do it at work) and this really took a toll. Now that I'm medicated and aware of why this was happening I'm finding it a lot easier to deal with.
ETA: And therapy has helped an immense amount as well. If it wasn't for my therapist, I'd still be misdiagnosed as having major depression. And we probably all know what depression meds only can do to someone with bipolar....

My husband and I have Been together for 14 years. We do have our fights. I do talk about divorce when I'm really sick. My husband knows this. When we're depressed we do nice things for each other. When manic we treat each other like our drunk best friend. It works for us. We harbor no ill will for what happens in episode.

I want to be in one. My last was 8.5-9 years and ended last summer, ended by me due to my significant other's substance abuse. I am attracted to wrong men so I want a relationship but am scared of getting into a mess again

I've been seeing the same girl since last June. It has not been easy and bipolar put me in a frame of mind where I wasn't the best of people to her but she believed in me and we saw it through. I don't know if we will be life partners but I think we'll stick together for awhile. I can see myself spending a good chunk of my life with her.

In April me and my gf will hit the 9 year mark. I met her before my first major episode and I was lucky enough to have stick by my side the whole time. We have our ups, our downs, and me calling it off every now and again, but overall we've survived just as strong as before.

I am separated from my husband. We had been together 15 years. The funny thing is, when I had my episodes and got diagnosed, he was completely supportive and amazing.
And then I got on medication and stopped doing all the crazy **** I used to do, and I think he got bored. I'm finding out that he actually likes drama in his life. And I'm going in the total opposite direction, looking for a stable man that I can share my life with. The problem is, I can't think of one man that I would even want to go on a date with. And I'm leery of online dating sites. I guess I've come to accept that if God wants it to happen, it will happen. I'm not going to spend my life chasing after men. If it's meant to be, he'll come to me.

I agree with this ^ electric bipolar.
Everytime I have a relationship, I have been with an unstable man. I can't do it anymore. I just need someone who can help me in some small way, instead of the opposite. |
