Have any of y'all done a DBT class? I signed the contract for it today. It started today but my T didn't tell me til today lol so he told me all the stuff about it and we discussed things.

It's 16 weeks long with 4 absences allowed, daily homework, it's a 2 hour group weekly and I will see my t weekly too. Im excited but really nervous too. It doesn't help I'm battling lots of anxiety this week and feeling a bit down.

So..,anyone done a DBT class? Did you like it?weve already identified my target behaviors and I have the diary cards to do weekly. I've learned some DBT when ip before and it's good stuff. It application that is hard!

I had my second class today and am "eh" about it. So far have only talked about distress tolerance and so far none of it seems to apply to me. I'm going to keep going for a few more weeks in hopes that it will relate to me in some form.

About 20 years ago I took a cbt class and had a huge improvement. I started the class severely bulimic and suicidal and after maybe 1-2 months I was 99% better. I don't know of any cbt classes anymore though.

Halliebeth87 GO TO DBT

It will help you, do NOT pike out on it, it could potentially cure you. Why give up on something that could be a cure before you even start????

Man you do my head in.

I opted not to go to first one and to do all first class with him. It was all the contract and diary card explanation. He started the program.

No need to be rude though. This was a happy/nervous thread. No one is pushing me to join. It was my choice. He just strongly encouraged me.

The therapist leading mine is super nice and I like her. I guess for me this class will be one of those "take what you need leave the rest" kind of thing. I am willing to do everything in my power to feel better and good on you for doing the same.

Yea the nightly diary card includes things that happened that day and skills from DBT you used to cope. I don't gave to fill the skills put yet cause I haven't learned them yet.

We also get a "coach" we can call to help us use the skills to manage an issue later down the line. Part of the contract was if we call, that we have to be willing to accept the help given.

I'm excited but of course nervous too. I just can't do last minute like that and he didn't know til yesterday that was happening same time as our appointment. I want to do it but need to prepare mentally. Ya know? That's why he gave me a choice and we did the introduction together. Next week will be a repeat basically.

So each thursday I see him at 1 then have DBT 2-4.

I've done part of a DBT class and I went through a DBT Bipolar workbook with my therapist once. Both were incredibly helpful. My new therapist is primarily focusing on DBT with me too. I think DBT is the best thing for bipolar. Good luck in your class. I'm sure it is going to help so much!
