If it is about the meds, I also believe you should stay on the meds and maybe even talk to a pdoc about some changes (if this is what you choose). Believe me I am not poking fun at you, but read your post again. You bounced from one subject to another and the whole paragraph was one sentence. The reason I point this out, is for me personally when I'm hypo manic or manic this is how my brain works. Maybe you are different than me, and this is just you, if that makes any sense at all. I wish you the best.

Are you thinking your medication is causing you to be unable to go to school? Are you taking your medication the way youre supposed to? Not skipping days or anything like that?

Have you tried therapy, they can teach you coping skills. I agree stay on your meds but talk to your pdoc about what is going on.

I had my first major breakdown at 14. I DID go to school for the most part, but I had to leave early on a pretty much daily basis because of either delusions or panic attacks. My sophomore year was the same. I was finally missing and leaving early so often that I was pulled from school and home schooled through a "home hospital" school program (I believe it was state offered). Can you talk to your mom and school counselor to see if something like that is available for you? Someone from the school came to my home and schooled me only twice per week and it was just up to me to read and do assignments. The work load and expectations were, however, geared towards someone who was not as able to function as other students. I ended up passing 10th grade (with good grades actually) only because of this. I went to a specialized school my junior and senior years. It is so hard to be so young and so debilitated by this illness. Please come here as often as you need for support and encouragement.

I have a son a little younger then you that struggles. I remember being like you stuggling. I stayed in in-school suspension until I dropped out. NJ has public virtual school. It'll let you catch up and graduate on time. They didn't have anything like that when I got my GED. Getting a GED or Graduating is the most important job you have. Besides keeping yourself alive. which is extremely hard at times.
You have a heads up. You know what you're dealing with. Do you have a child therapist? is there an intensive out patient program for kids in your area? How often do you see your psychiatrist? I know you don't attend school but can you do a community sport, hang out at a community center, library, co-op, volunteer, just something to get out of the house and give both you and your mom a break? Bed at 11 pm no matter what take yourself to bed. Sleep is crucial for us. Meds are difficult. If you learn what will aggravate you and how to pre-empt it you'll be on less meds. Taking the meds on time is just as important. What meds / doses are you on?

If your meds are prescribed from a doctor and you are advised to take them, going off them will not be beneficial to you. I am sorry you are not getting the correct support that you need. I suffered sever depression in high school but was lucky enough to have people around to help me. Your life won't always be this way. Hang in there.

My first episode was at 13. I know how tough it could be, but you should try to go back. Usually, you can get accomidations on comming late, and leaving early if needed.
Maybe you need a med change, I know how depression can be and doing nothing all day, but television and video games, as well as sleeping all day. A start would be exercising, and healthy eating. Keep your head up kid |

History says going off meds is foolish. Records indicate you will most likely fall back into that same old hole. Studies point out the meds taken along with alcohol, and or drugs, will void any good your meds are intended for. No school, no education over time will separate you from any chances of over coming hard ships in the future. People do not get jobs these days just because they like you.
