Im currently in a episode and am loosing my patience with this guy up stairs pounding his keyboards. I've talked to him 4 times. Talked to landlord and even called cops at 8pm after 4 hours of it. Im tired of wearing my tv headphones and at times i can still hear it. Im loosing my mind over this and anxiety is through the roof. And im not supposed to take my klonipine any more due to addiction. Im really ready to loose it guys. Im sick of it. I wish i could be like normal people and be fine with just wearing headphones but then im worried about the electric consumption.

Can you move to someplace quiet?

Would ear plugs help? Noises drive me crazy when I am in an episode too. It can really destabilise me. Could you put your own music on to block out the keyboards? Of course this means you can't sleep but it will give you a break.

I feel you! Loud noises during episodes drive me nuts. I usually listen to music to block out any outside stressors.

I can seriously lose my **** because of excess/chaotic noise. I used to think it was PTSD related, but I'm thinking lately that the bipolar part of me is affected by it also.

When I get like that, I turn on a fan. Just an ordinary house fan.
The constant noise of the fan helps me block out the other sounds around me

The guy upstairs could easily use a set of headphones when he is using his keyboards.
Also try playing opera really loud so he know what it is like. ![]() |

we go to las vegas a lot for just 2-3 days if we meet up with friends or want to see a show; the slot noise, the lights, and all the continuous stimulation really trigger my mania so i must double my seroquel dose or not sleep….but this last trip i wore my husband's noise cancellation headset the minute i got into the casino area and wore sunglasses almost continuously; when we went to a show, again i wore the noise cancellation headset and sunglasses; i'm at an age where i no longer care what others think…1st bought earplugs before going to vegas but they didn't work…but downloaded a noise app on my computer and used that as well as the noise app from my phone at bedtime which all helped. good luck |

I second the house fan idea. I have new neighbors that must be musicians or something because everyday between two and four they play the same song over and over and over. My husband keeps telling me not to complain but it drives me crazy. The weird part is it isn't even that loud. Our unit has to be completely silent for us to even really hear it, otherwise it's just faint. Sometimes I even put my ear to the wall because I can "feel" that they're playing music. The only thing that completely covers it is the fan. I know I'm being a weirdo about it, but I can't help it.

Been though this with the neighbors beside us. The one maintenance guy here ran the brats all out. Sure they hadn't a clue about landlord/tenant law. The family upstairs is a completely different matter. Last night I made sure O HOLY NIGHT by Josh Groban was played very, very loudly. (next I'll put the noise right by the vents!!)

I'm getting fed up with a truck and motorcycle in my apartment complex, the go back and forth many times a day with loud rumble noise that needs a muffler. I can understand a few times a day but not this constant back and forth...then there's the upstairs that sounds like they are dragging chairs across wooden floor or a trombone....guess I'm getting that irritation to noise again too. All I can offer is sympathy, no idea what to do about it other than the ideas all ready suggested.

My biggest irrigation when I get in that mode is screaming/screeching kids. It takes all the restraint I have to not flip out and do something that would get me in a whole lot of trouble. It just grates like fingernails on a chalk board. I don't mean playing laughing noise, I mean screeching like in temper tantrums or fighting with other kids, while their parents just ignore it or yell at them. Neither does any good.
When I am like that I need to be alone in a dark room with as little sensory input as possible. As I've told people living with me more than a few times, if it doesn't require 911, I don't want to hear about it.
