When I come across having to clean my room I start in one spot first either the bed or the dresser and after it gets easier

Get some hypomania on!!

Lol jk. So I would start in small chunks/small projects. Even one half a corner at a time. Put the music on and try to focus on the beautiful end result!

Good luck

Maybe make a list: you're gonna be slow and memory is probably impaired.

I only clean when I'm hypomanic, manic, or dysphoric. I usually do it in one fell swoop!

But I agree with Jacky -- start off small. You don't have to clean everything at once. Take a couple of days to clean if you need it.

If you're the kind of person who starts something and usually doesn't finish, then I would take a whole day off just to clean. Sometimes it helps to get a momentum going and have a "f--- it. I'm just going to do it" attitude

I agree with starting small also.
Maybe one room at a time. Close the door so you don't
even see the rest of the place and get that one room done.
Take your time maybe listen to some upbeat music.

i'm sure it can wait!

take some time for yourself and do it when you feel you're able to

and when you do start.. a list is certainly a good idea

I'm going to agree and say start small. My bathroom was in need of some major cleaning. I was overwhelmed about doing so because I usually do it all at once. So one day I wiped down the sink and counter. Then the next day I cleaned the toilet. The next job is to clean the shower. Then I'll get to cleaning the floor. If there are days in between doing each item, then so be it. That's my method for that so far. Break it all down instead of all at once.

I haaaaaatee cleaning. Really I despise it.

I like the after results, just can't stand the process

Can't all special people like us have a cleaning service to make sense of our clutter

I was almost to the point of doing this. I even started looking up companies and prices. But then I realized I don't want strangers in my house touching my things. Luckily a hypo episode kicked in and gave me a headstart.

Yeah I here ya there.

...Wouldn't want a manic/paranoid episode to kick in and start thinking there are bugs or cameras stashed by them

knowing me, that would happen, that would be a true story

The first thing I do is throw away all the trash that tends to get left around like junk mail or soda cans. Then I clean the kitchen or bathroom because I can really see results there with all the gleaming surfaces. I get my kids to vacuum. I never get any room 100% clean like I want but my mantra is "good enough".

Of course I can't be depressed during this time because then I wouldn't care what my house looked like.

I have huge problems with this. What I do to get over it is to clean in small batches and clean when I can talk to someone on the phone at the same time (I use a headset). I also take advantage of any hypomania that I might get and clean on those days too.

Picking up trash first, then taking it a project at a time really helps...

I have this same dilemma. Yesterday I googled "housekeeping schedule" images, looked through examples until I found a basic list that suited me, I whited out some items, then added a couple other tasks. It's posted on my refrigerator now. I was overwhelmed because I'm hyper-aware of all the cleaning and organizing I want to do. So, yesterday I did the morning tasks, the Saturday task, and the evening tasks. House is still in need of deep spring cleaning, but the structure of a list, and being able to stop to do something else is so reasonable, that I like it. So, I'm following my list today, and don't feel so overwealmed. Now, my challenges are to just keep the practice up until it is a habit, and to be satisfied with "good enough."

I've seen something like that. Like every fourth day vacuum the living room. Once a week the fridge etc etc. let me know how you make out with that. I think I've seen the schedule on sale at Amazon.

I started cleaning this morning. I washed the dishes and wiped down the counters in the kitchen, no too time consuming. I decided to tackle my room. The good thing is that I can finally see my floor! And all trash (i.e. receipts, pieces of paper, prescription bags) has been removed. Now I need to change the sheets, vacuum, dust, and clear my dresser and nightstand. But I'm tired. I think I'm good for now. I'll finish later this week. Doing this piece by piece.
