Do you ever get hallucinations outside of mood episodes?

I tend to get mild auditory hallucinations when I'm mentally and physically stressed out. They're mostly nonsense and don't scare me, but they are annoying.

I suppose I'm depressed right now, which is a mood episode, but I know I get these even when I'm not depressed.

No

I get hallucinations during depressions and mania. I don't get them during a mixed episode, oddly enough.

The hallucinations used to exclusively be auditory... but as of late, they are visual and very realistic. I see imaginary vehicles, people, etc. moving around. Like, a few weeks ago I was driving and I got "cut off" by a pickup truck that wasn't even there. I slammed the brakes because I thought it was real, but the pickup truck disappeared.

I have more often that not daily Hallucinations. .. It use to really freak me out. So I did alot of work in Therapy about it. We have pretty much decided that its not really a bother since I am aware that most are typically due to my racing mind.

Hallucinations are just no fun , at all. But putting them in perspective "usually" is a good way to manage them.

I "think" I only experience them when in an episode. My doctor has me watching this so I'm paying close attention because I'm not entirely sure. I'm sorry you still suffer these, even when stable. I hope your depression improves quickly. (((Hugs)))

I get auditory hallucinations all the time. I can handle them pretty well when they are not too loud. When they are loud usually visual hallucinations will come not long after that. I cannot remember when the last time I am having visual hallucinations outsides mood episodes, as far as I can remember I am either extremely depressed or in full blown mania. But my memory is not something I can be proud of

Hallucinations independent/outside mood episodes may be indicative of schizophrenia or schizo-affective disorder. At one point, my pdoc ruled out schizo-affective disorder and schizophrenia. He did rule both out but he said don't stress, the treatment is the same. Check with you pdoc if you are concerned.

I have music going in my head 24/7 and I don't consider it a hallucination. For me, I consider hallucinations to be serious delusions or major hallucinations (of any type and persistent). Voices aren't a good sign concerning. Especially command hallucinations. I think I hallucinate regularly but I've learned to ignore the mild, pesky ones.

What are your "auditory hallucinations" like? They may be nothing to worry about.

I get "noisy thoughts" which seem like they could be hallucinations/ voices, but my pdoc was not concerned about them at all because it's not like I think I actually hear something. They are just thoughts.

Just thought I'd share in case that helps.

They're located someplace not inside but not outside my head. I hear them but know I'm not actually hearing them (I have other hallucinations during mania where the sound is clearly from outside). I can tell the gender and accent and direction of the voice, sometimes identity, and what's being said, but it's usually nonsense.

I'm not actually worried about them. They're just a curious occurance. Neither I nor my doctor thinks they're indicative of a schizo disorder. He says hallucinations occur on a spectrum.

Mine are more like hearing a song stuck in your head, except they can be random speaking or mumbling voices with different accents or random noises. Again, I don't think I actually hear anything, they are thoughts. If they get bad, they get loud or shouting. That has only happened a couple times, and I usually take extra Risperdal and Xanax in that situation. I honestly think they are more stress/anxiety related rather than hypomania.

They only happen when I'm quiet or trying to sleep.

I just checked out a book called "Hallucinations" by Oliver Sacks all about nature of hallucinations and how they can happen outside mood episode. I will suggest that as a book to read for our book club though we have enough books to last several months already.
