Right now I don't have a therapist and my NP sucks. The community center has screwed me over many times and I don't want to go back. How do I find a therapist/psychiatrist team? I'm lost.

I'm not going to lie -- it's hard finding a decent pdoc and therapist these days.
Usually pdocs who work in a big office have reviews on Google. You can start there to see what people say about the doctor. I've seen some pdocs with horrible reviews on there and some with great reviews. So yeah, my recommendation is to find some office/center which has a lot of pdocs and therapists, and research the doctors/therapists one by one. You're more likely to find reviews for those pdocs/therapists than independent ones. (That's not to say the independent ones are bad. But I'm just saying looking at reviews for pdocs/therapists in centers or offices will give you a good start.) That's essentially what I did. You can also find out if a pdoc has been sued or not, which is useful to know. I found some pdocs who were sued. |

I wish I could help but my last therapist I saw her when I was having a mixed episode and she was finally able to actually see the difference in me. We talked about my psychosis and some other stuff. At the end of the session she told me I could keep seeing her but she's not capable to help me.
As for pdocs, with other medical problems and my bad insurance I haven't been able to see one for a long time.

I found an awesome therapist through Psychology Today. It even has what insurance each one accepts so you know before you even try to make an appointment. I would still confirm with each one, however.
It also provides how they treat their patients (e.g. DBT/CBT), average costs, and a description of the therapist. https://www.psychologytoday.com/ Just go to 'Find A Therapist' |

If you are able to get to a teaching hospital they tend to have really great doctors on staff. So much so that I drive 2.5 hours each way to see my pdoc. It's also helpful in that the psych unit is connected to the hospital so if I'm IP my pdoc is involved/kept up to date and offered the chance to override giving meds she doesn't want me on. She's not my dr while IP but just is able to participate.

It definitely isn't easy. I was only diagnosed back in May and I'm already switching pdocs because I just don't feel a connection with the one I've been seeing since February. Same thing goes for my t that I've been seeing for about the same amount of time. She has made some comments to me recently that have really made me question her as a t. She pretty much told me I was fat and needed to go to OA meetings. I'm like 'who the heck are you to judge and tell me what to do in that regard'? It just rubs me the wrong way when people talk about my weight.
