do you get many trick or treaters around halloween?

how do you like to deal with them?

where I live their arn't many- most of them that do come around tap on the window and wait for me to open the door

but I don't. I just wait until they pass and keep all the candy for myself

how do you deal with them

Halloween used to be my most favorite holiday. We went all out decorating the house....loved taking my kids trick or treating and loved passing out candy. My husband and I are both sickly so we don't decorate anymore....my kids are too old to trick or treat....my husband and I are too sickly to keep getting up for the door....our dogs bark like crazy when somebody knocks and that makes my anxiety sky rocket....so we will turn off the porch light for the second year in a row and try to pretend the holiday doesn't exsist. It makes me sad if I let myself think about it too much.....I really used to get a thrill this time of year and now it's causing me anxiety instead. We don't get many trick or treaters in our neighborhood anyways though.

We haven't had any since we moved 4 years ago. I actually haven't bought any candy to eat myself this year either. I used to enjoy it when my son was little though

There aren't too many kids in my neighborhood. I keep the lights turned off anyway and ignore the few intrepid souls who do come knocking on the door. I don't like it and simply can't be bothered.

I don't have any!
When I first moved here I bought a bunch of candy just in case. But the later it was, I realized no kids were coming. And as I thought about it, I realized that it made sense. I don't see any kids around here and there aren't any street lights on my street, just porch lights people keep on. No sidewalks either (sounds like I live out in a rural area, but I dont).

We have a life sized witch and a blow up haunted house that makes scary noises. We put the house so that the kids have to go through it to get to the candy and put the witch inside. It scares the crap out of the kids. My neighborhood is great for Halloween, loads of kids. It's the only time I get to meet my neighbors.

We typically don't do Halloween. Our porch light is off. There's only a few kids in the neighborhood anyway.

We don't get any. Few lights, no sidewalks, set back off of street, homeless camped out at end of street -- ummmm yeah, not likely(!) Even so, we don't turn on the front light because we're not prepared. I used to get a bag of candy "just in case". Heehee, just in case I wanted to eat it! Which I did!

I've been quite into Halloween in the past -- even made a couple of prize winning costumes. Even then I didn't like having them come to the door (lived in a different place) but did it a couple of years when I was in costume too. You know, fully hidden. Why yes, they WERE surprised when a giant beaked raven answered the door, lol. Caw! Nevermore!

(Had a major hypomania going one year, but that is a story in itself. Yikes. Lol.)

I love Halloween! I loved taking my son out trick or treating. But he's 20 now. We don't get any trick or treaters. This yr I'm going to make steak, sauteed mushrooms and roasted potatoes. And cookies. And we're going to watch scary movies. I'm hoping my back can take all the cooking.

Since I moved to my mom's I just leave a bowl of candy on the porch. There's lots of kids in the neighborhood but I'm usually out with my son. Though he has refused to wear a costume for three years now so I don't take him around the neighborhood, just to the church for trunk or treat.they don't care if he's not wearing a costume. He said he wants to be a pumpkin this year, which means he wants me to paint a jack o lantern face on an orange tee shirt. That's what I did for him last year after he refused to put on his spongebob costume. He's just not into costumes. So we will probably just do trunk or treat again this year. Especially since my mom has to work so I would be taking him around alone on Halloween and I'm too socially anxious to do that.

One was Poe's raven, which had a giant beaked head (heh, vision was limited and had to drink with a straw) and wingspan longer than arms thanks to hidden dowels I could grab. It had "feathers" of black taffetta interspersed with deep blue (you know, like how the black of feathers aren't just black when light hits it) and black leggings with a stripe of yellow running down (to make optical illusion because bird legs are significantly skinnier than mine, lol!), finished off with fabric "bird feet" that attached over the tops of my shoes. As a prop, there was a "book" made out of cardboard, all fancied up antique style that said "The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe". (It was my "purse" for money and ID, as one had to go to judges at a number of bars that tallied for final rankings -- only got 3rd place for that one. I don't remember having to take the headgear off with ID, oddly enough.)

A later year, for my BF, it was the Mad Hatter, Tim Burton style. The lot of it, head to toe. ..The face makeup and wig, the thread spooled "sash", "weathered" and laced-back coat (thanks to Goodwill, scissors, paint and cording), striped socks and the hat, complete with the decorative sticks in band (one being 10/6). Oh lord, the hat! Drove me to my psychological knees! It was the curve of it that made it so hard. He wore it to work and people were keeping him from his work all day with wanting to take pictures with him, lol. But it won his workplace contest first prize, so we got a $100 gift certificate!

Though I'm pretty sure I was hypo for both, neither was the year I was big-time hypo(!)

I *have* pictures of both, but I don't know if they're anywhere but trapped in my still unfixed computer.
Thanks for this!
