I love the Lion King! Both the movie and the Broadway musical.

Have you seen any movies recently that involves Mental Illness?

I saw the 13 Reasons on Netflix. They got so much wrong it annoyed me, and I think it is dangerous in some ways as it tends to blame those around the girl who was ill, rather than her illness.

What was the best film/show you have watched on mental illness?

It's a toss up between One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Girl Interrupted. But for me I liked Girl Interrupted more.

Does your mania leave you feeling hot/warm?

I haven't seen 13 reasons why but from what I read the scariest part is the girl blaming everybody else for her suicide and thinking this will make them pay. bad message for teens.

hmmmm I have seen many films and shows on mental illness. my all time favorite show is "six feet under" HBO from the early 2000s. please ppl watch this whole series of you have not. everyone on it was struggling in one way or another. awesome awesome show. I like most of the movies out there about MI can t pick one

when was the last time you got butterfly in your stomachs for something good/exciting?

I liked him though he had a great sense of humor even when i was driving him nuts

at LadyShadow, you need to check out the broadway soundtrack

their are 2 tracks not in the movie, "shadowlands," and " longest night", amazing tracks

are you looking forward to the movie remake in 2019?

(it's been confirmed by disney we have to wait that long now!)

personally i'm not looking forward to the remake, why mess with a perfectly good movie?

anyway to answer jackie's question, when they announced that a show I liked had been renewed for 2018!. soooo exciting!

how many times a week do you buy groceries

(just once for me)

I get groceries 1-2 times weekly. Love fresh fruit!

Do you find your mood in an upswing in the summer?

Actually I feel so elated, I don't feel anything but greatness.

Do you miss your mania?

I would say I miss the hypo...but not the full blown.
since I'm doing pretty good I'm not craving it as much. when I'm depressed I will do anything to *try* and flip into hypo regardless of what may come. i still love feeling that feeling though and don t think I would stop it if it came. my insight becomes poor around that time usually anywAy

do you ever wonder why simple things can seem so big to you when the rest of the world glides through it?

I wonder that all the time! The simple act of getting out of bed and staying awake is so darn difficult! Ugh.

Do you struggle getting out of bed in the morning?

Nope. Woke up at 5am, after 6 hours sleep, all bright and bubbly.

How high functioning are you with Bipolar?

Oh yeah we did! But it's cool we got different answers

Am I high functioning? I would have to say I am. I have more good days than bad, although when I have bad days they are REALLY bad.

Do you have a lot of good days lately?

my functioning varies greatly. I am 36 and live with my mother and stepfather so there's that. i would be a mess on my own. I struggle with things adults should not I guess.
I go through periods of not being able to function normally to decent functioning. my brain has definitely taken a hit from some hard hitting episodes in the past.
right now I'm working and trying to keep my kids happy. that's what I got! bipolar stole a lot from me but ah what can ya do

do you get the urgent spell cast over you sometimes to try and make up for time lost on the crazy train??

Yes, I see it is really popping!

"do you get the urgent spell cast over you sometimes to try and make up for time lost on the crazy train??"

Yes I do, like right now I am trying to get my career in order and start working again, but this time I am going into the Civil Service.

How do you get yourself out of a depressive mood?

Sometimes it just takes time and nothing really helps. However, when depressed I take my meds, get exercise, try to have a good sleep routine, socialise and try to keep going to work. I don't know if they get me out of depression but it certainly seems to keep it from worsening. Oh, and I listen to a lot of music and try to play guitar and sing. Of course sometimes nothing seems to help but time.

What is the longest period of pure depression that you have had?

6 months maybe? I don't have much time I'm not mixed if I'm anything but I did have a bad depression in 2015-2016.

How long have you been seeing your therapist?

I've been seeing therapists on and off for 15 years

current one though... maybe a few months

has their ever been a time you've refused therapy because you feel it's just not helping you?

Sure, there have been times when I have discontinued therapy.
It's been rare.

What helps you the most when you are depressed?

yes, I think (know), I have

I used to be (when I was first diagnosed), be scared of the word "bipolar", and thought if I said it i'd be met with bad luck or something

thankfully I don't feel like this anymore and can now tell people about it

but back then it's like..

well, I'm just making the stigma 10 times worse

what was your last weird/ random obsession

my last one hasn't been too strange . Usually they are pretty strange though lol
I was researching to death spiritual awakening and how to contact your spirit guides/kundalini awakening and how to contact souls that have passed on. the deeper I got into it i started getting weird thoughts and paranoid someone I knew was an evil entity. she is like betty Crocker in real life. so that made me take a break for a while

I like that question: what was your last topic of research obsession
