Now I'm too wound up to sleep. So I'm taking melatonin but that may be overridden by stress hormones. I hate not sleeping. The nights are so long and the days that follow even longer. Even the clean feeling and clean bedding and heated mattress pad aren't helping.

I've heard that weighted blankets improve your quality of sleep, so hopefully you'll get that blanket soon. You're supposed to get it in 1 week, right?

I'm not so sure melatonin has helped me with sleep, but everyone is different. Maybe you'll get lucky

I take a combination of melatonin and valerian root to sleep. Traditional sleep meds give me too much of a hangover the next day. The combo works very well for me most nights. I, too, hate not sleeping.

Yes a week at the latest however we have had two holidays where the post office has not been running so I don't know if that will effect it. It would have to have shipped already and I haven't gotten notice that it has yet. I did finally fall asleep luckily after the melatonin. I haven't been taking it except on an as needed basis so it will work when I do take it.

Which traditional sleep meds have you tried - ambien? I've never had anything more than Ativan for sleep or melatonin. My sleep problems are sporadic - I think they were caused by Wellbutrin actually. That is when I'm not manic. I don'tnot sleep then either

I've tried Ambien, but it only seems to work for so long. Currently I am taking an all natural sleep aid called Sleep Thru from Gaia. I'm still struggling, but it does help.

Melatonin works pretty well for me. Sometimes gives me really vivid dreams before bed though. I usually do like 3-6 mg, which for the brand that I get is 1-2 pills. Good luck!

I've never used melatonin.... instead, I depend on Lunesta, which is not as healthy for you. So... did the melatonin work for you?

Just trazadone and seroquel. The trazadone was ok for awhile but then I started on emsam and there is a interaction between the two so it had to go. I've also used Benadryl in the past but now with the emsam it gives me restless legs. So I'm basically sol for sleep meds because of the emsam so that's why I went the natural route.

How much melatonin are you all taking? I was advised that most people don't take enough, and that one should start at 6 mg, and move up to 10.

I've had a lot of success. Like Widflowerchild, I had such terrible hangover symptoms, and had some terrible ones with Ambien. I just couldn't function.

And I think some meds do contribute to sleeplessness. I know I have a couple that do.

Same here! I've been up to 10mg of melatonin and Tylenol PM and that helped somewhat. Now I take 200mg of Trazodone at night and that is working moderately well. Ambien was awful!

I take trazodone every night (I think. Darn it's pill box night too!!).

I'm taking 10. I took some last night but have been trying not to because they say the weighted blanked induces melatonin and I'm still waiting to get my blanket and I want it to "work".

Please let me know how the melatonin works for you. Melatonin is a powerful antioxidants in additional to the sleep inducing effects. I read a small abstract of a study in which the researchers used 10mgs melatonin at night in people with tardive dyskinesia. The melatonin resulted in a significant reduction in TD symptoms.

Since I have to take Abilify every.single.day., I'm thinking I'll add melatonin to the line up and maybe (hopefully) prevent TD.

I take 10mg of Melatonin, it never worked in the past.

I gave it a 5th or so chance and it's working very well.

I just called about two scripts that didn't get refilled the other day because insurance wouldn't pay when I still had it. Now I have to pay for warfarin out of pocket because I can't chance blood clots again. And my wellbutrin is the same- it's over $100 and I may have to pay. Next month if I'm still in the same boat I'm **** out of luck.
