I am experiencing bipolar depression and staying in bed all day long. I have to force myself to get out of bed to get an hour of exercise a day, a walk or a bike ride. I am having suicidal ideations and feeling heartbroken over a relationship that ended 5 years ago. I've been struggling with mental illness these last 4 and a half years and haven't met anyone new. Anyone else experiencing bipolar depression? I need to relate to others who are going through this.

I'm not experiencing depression right now (well right this minute yes but not sustained) but I have many many times in the past. You're certainly not alone.

Sorry you are feeling so bad, though you should be proud of yourself for getting up to exercise! I can barely force myself to do that when I'm feeling great!

You say you've been struggling with MI for 4.5 years and that your breakup was 5 years ago...do you mean that you've been depressed ever since your breakup? Were you experiencing symptoms of bipolar before? That's a really long time to be in so much acute pain over losing someone...maybe this heartbreak is more/something other than biological depression + "normal" post-breakup grief. Seems like talking to a therapist or something about this could be helpful, if you aren't already.

The last 4 and a half years have been a mixture of mania and depression. I wasn't experiencing bipolar symptoms before though I may have had a depression and maybe one slightly manic episode. Yeah, I think the fact that my father left when I was 5 contributes to the pain of this loss. And the fact that I haven't found anyone else since. But I've been struggling with depression and mania. And it doesn't help that my biological clock is ticking and so my mind keeps going back to the person I could've had a child with.

Do you have a therapist? The relationship issue is one you really need to talk about so you can find closure.
