I hear both, at times, and not at the same time.

Two nights ago, it was raining heavily outside. I had the bedroom window cracked. The raindrops hitting on different surfaces of the house sounded like a large crowd of men and women, talking non-stop. It kept waking me. It was very bothersome. Frustrating.

Today, we turned on an air conditioner for a few minutes and I started hearing music of all kinds, like a distant stereo. I had to check to see if someone was playing music somewhere else in the house. No other music playing in the house. This was erratic music, pieces of songs/music all mixed up. It can be very bothersome.

I also often hear music while a fan is running. Sometimes it's a coherent song. Other times, it's pieces of music alternating with other songs/pieces of music.

I don't hear these without a stimulus of a sound (a fan, raindrops, etc.). It seems the sound gets distorted.

It can be pop, rock, orchestra, choir (and more) all alternating. It can also be redundant and coherent pieces of music.

My neurologist thinks it's a variation of migraine activity. That's what he'd guess. There's a correlation between BP and migraine. I am what they call a "migraineur." Lots of migraines and migraine variants.

I also live with BP, so I thought I'd ask if others also experience this?

Thanks for reading!

Im very sorry you deal with Migraines, they are brutal. Interesting about Migraine and BP having a connection but makes since its all " in our heads" lol

I hear music alot mostly classical, which is self soothing to me , usually.

I hear crowds talking and music that my husband cannot often but I live in a noisey city and think I hear things in the distant which my husbands hearing does not allow. I may be wrong, I might hear things that aren't there but do not think so. I hear *thump, thump, thimp* music which drives me to want to drink sometimes .....the kind of music that makes windows rattle and it cuts through to my soul and is just such an ugly, terrible sound that I can't imagine anyone is listening to it for fun but I do believe they are. With the noises from the crowds, the problem arises when my brain decides it can make out those distant conversation and I hear them discussing me. That is no fun at all. My inlaws live in the country and I recently tried to convince my husband that we needed to sell all our belongings and buy an RV to put on his parents land to live. We wouldn't have all the sirens and neighbors and noises and the noises recently made me ape chit. My husband politely told me no way, that he liked his stuff and didn't want to live in a tin can.

Music. I've even wakened in the night hearing it and frantically shutting off all electronics trying to make it stop. I've heard groups of people too but not for a while.

Oh yes, absolutely I "hear things" in white noise (shower, A/C, raindrops, white noise app etc). Typically I hear voices, but it is usually difficult to distinguish the meaning.

I live in the suburbs (right next to country farms, etc.). It's reasonably quiet. (And very dark.)
I have very sensitive hearing, too, Elsa.
I lived in the city for awhile and my nervous system could not take it. My hearing is too sensitive and I have too much C-PTSD.
I love the country!

That's very interesting. I get migraines too and lately they've been getting worse in the sense they last longer - about 3 days. They've also changed - not so much pain now but lots of aura and then a general feeling of just exhaustion and fatigue.

When I play around with meds they always come back. When I was on a higher dose of the Depakote it seemed to stop them - probably cut down the electrical activity in the brain I guess which I think is what they'r supposed to do.

The muttering must get tiring.
Classical music would be much nicer.

Thank you. I used to live with daily migraines of the painful sort. Daily migraines for years. Now I have fewer painful ones, instead they are silent or variants.

Thanks for responding.

The radio switching songs is a great description.

I can identify with this!
My husband thinks I'm odd while I'm trying all kinds of things to find the sound.
I now know, for me, it's distorted noise of some type.
Thanks so much!

Yes, that's it, "white noise."
Like you, I usually cannot distinguish what's being said, it's a big crowd talking though.

Have you ever heard of this being attributed to "migraine variant?" Or other?

You have been on my mind. I hope you are feeling better.

I am sorry you suffer so.

3 days is a long migraine. Status Migrainous starts at 72 hours and usually needs an intervention in the ER. Be sure your doctor knows about these.

The nature of migraines can change. The headache isn't always present, while other odd things go on, including auras.
Depakote is a very popular drug for migraine prevention. This is how I had first met up with Depakote many, many years ago.

Interestingly, many of the mood-stabilizing anti-epileptic drugs are prescribed as migraine preventatives now.

Please take good care.

I hear iPhone ringtones sometimes. Does that count as "music"? Lol

The first time I heard iPhone ringtones, I was mixed. I am the ONLY one in my house with an iPhone, btw, and I had it shut off. Yet, I could hear iPhone ringtones anyways... and they lasted for 4 (yes, FOUR) hours. I only heard it in my left ear, too. In fact, I turned my head the opposite way just to see if I'd hear something in my right ear. Nope. Just kept coming in my left ear

Earlier that day, I had also heard random robotic music in my left ear. Lol. Beep boop bop bop beep boop beeeep bop!

The first time I hear voices, it was a conversation between a lady and a guy. Lady talking into right ear (I think right) and the man was talking into the other ear. They said mean things.

I hear too much random sh_t. lol. But I can always identify what it is. Like, I never hear white noise.

when I hear music, it's usually 1 of 2 things

jazz music coming out of a really poor sounding hospital TV, with the crowd on the programme cheering

or childrens fairground music with the sound of children enjoying themselves

sometimes, with the latter, it's just the music, no children

I get music in fans too but music just from the ether too. Once in my room when my TV receiver was playing music and talking to me; once when the music over the speakers in a drs office- but the sound system was broken;. Once in the car heard complex music; heard a radio station announcing sports. I'm sure there are others.

I have heard music before. But most of the time there's music playing in my head. idk how to describes the but it's like song after song playing in my head. Bits and pieces get stuck on loop sometimes but mostly it jumps from song to song. Very annoying. It's used to only happen when I was manic but now it's all the time.

I get that too- both pieces that already exist and those that don't. But those are different to me than the music I hear outside my head

I hear music, almost like a radio station slightly not tuned in properly
So the song is there, but hard to make out
I get mostly 70s and 80s music with...at times...loud blaring obnoxious carousel music
The gentle 70s and 80s music is okay though... like an old friend

Im so glad you get to live in the peaceful, less noisey countryside. I dont live in a big city but it's big enough to terrorize me when I'm unwell. I'm told I also have PTSD and think my sensitive hearing is a result or at least a complication of the matter. I feel my husband and I should really consider moving to a less populated and chaotic environment in the future. I think it's vital. Thank you for sharing your experience with having done so....it's encouraging. (((Hugs)))

I was given Depakote in the ER for a migraine. It helped quite a bit. I was on another AP at the time (I think Zyprexa), and I had my heart monitored when I was given the infusion.

I had oral Depakote for a while as well. It took care of the headaches but not my depression.

I've heard music in white noise or noise generators. We always have some white noise going on because my husband has tinnitus and the sound is really irritating to him.
