I have been on this train I want to get off of and return back to nights I can sleep. I am very very agitated. I have these constant streams of thoughts. I go from one to the next mostly related thought. All negative. All consuming. It then happens over and over again. I get very agitated at the same time. This goes on all day and night for several days now. No sleep. Disrought. I do not know what to do. I have tried supplements for sleep that normally work but do not anymore. I had a severe reaction to Tegretol so I had to stop taking it. It was working from what I can tell.

What to do?

Are you in contact with your doctors about this? Missing sleep too many days in a row is a disaster waiting to happen. I too have racing thoughts these days from outside stress. It's a killer and my heart goes out to you.

Thank you Elsa. My next appointment is four months from now. It is a public facility. I am thinking of going in tomorrow and grabbing anyone that I can there to have them send a message to my pdoc for me, and then wait for an answer while I am still there.

I'm sure you've already tried OTC sleep meds? Benedryl sometimes works for me....and Tylenol PM. A long soak in a warm bath before bed can help too. Sleep hygiene stuff is so important but so hard when you are actively symptomatic which it certainly sounds like you are. I hope you have some luck with them sending a message to your PDOC. 4 months is just too long for people with our condition to have to go without seeing someone. I'm so sorry you are in such a position.

I have a cocktail of Valerian Root and Melatonin that usually puts me to sleep. I can always purchase Nyquil which can defenitely help. I can double or triple dose on it which I have done in the past.

I used to use niquil myself and recently did. It can help, I agree. I didn't have success with melatonin but have never tried valerian root which I might just do. Good luck.

2000 mg Valerian Root (2 capsules total) + 10 mg Melatonin (2 5 mg pills). Either one does not work that well, but the two together works for me 30 minutes before bedtime. Between this and a couple doses of Nyquil should work.

EDIT The Nyquil Severe has alchohol in it. FWIW

That's a good idea you have to go to the facility and send a message to your doctor. If they can't get you an answer today try to get them to move up your appointment. Four months is nuts to me. Good luck with that and be diplomatic but don't let them give you the run around. Finally, you could try the things suggested here...Benadryl, Tylenol pm or NyQuil. Good luck and best wishes in getting everything straightened out. Sleep deprivation can cause serious problems.

If all you want NyQuil for is the sedation, just get some Unisom or it's generic equivalent. The sedative in NyQuil is doxylamine succinate (an antihistamine), and you can get it without taking all the rest of things you don't need.

If you want the alcohol too, just take a couple shots of vodka with it. Much cheaper than NyQuil.

I took Niquil Severe with the Valerian Root and Melatonin cocktail last night. It eventually worked.

I used to take elavil at night, then they said that one wasn't good with other meds I took, then it was switched to trazodone, that worked, but made me prone to night eating. I wish there was an easy answer Tucson, I am taking restoril now and it works alright, not as good as trazodone or elavil did though. I'm sorry you're agitated, that's such a difficult way to feel. I hope it passes soon.

I wonder how much of this is withdrawl from medication? I am coming off of Venlafaxine and Tegretol and Mirtazapine and Buspirone. I am following doctor advice. I think my system should be clear of everything except Effexor, but I do not know.
