today has been really hard. I just got back from a camping trip last night that was already kind of stressful (a big group, people I don't know incredibly well, had to take our beloved dog to an out of town vet while there, long drive etc. etc.). Had an awful dream that I raged at this girl I know and then felt incredibly guilty afterwards. Got into work and immediately ****ed up my boss' website REALLY BAD and then as that was happening got an email from Apple and discovered my account had been hacked and someone was buying stuff with my credit card. THEN I ate some lunch that I have since convinced myself will give me food poisoning (total terrible lifelong emetophobe here) and I'm so anxious and upset I don't know what to do with myself.
I know none of this is actually that bad, I'm just feeling really overwhelmed and panicked. And then whenever I feel this way it's just another reminder that I haven't properly dealt with my mental health issues, that I'm basically white-knuckling it, which stresses me out even more. Sorry, just needed to vent :/ |

That's a lot all at once. I hope you can get some rest tonight. You mentioned that you haven't dealt with your mental health issues, and it sounds like maybe there is some guilt attached to that. Is there anything you can do to start working on your mental health? Just taking one step in that direction might make you feel more in control.

I felt a sense of unease just reading the word "camping." That's quite the list, and I think that can be hard, even for someone who is in a more healthy state of mind.
Try to remember to breathe. Whew.

Vent whenever you feel it helps. I'm sorry you're going through such as stressful period of time. This sounds a lot how I get/I can relate. Catching up on rest and self-care is so important during this time.

thanks everyone :/ I can't believe how ****** today has been. after writing my original post, I got into an argument with an old family friend, then came home to find out that our good friend had a miscarriage, and just a few minutes after that my cousin called to tell me that my uncle (whom I'm very close to) had a small stroke and is in the ER. Now I'm getting very conflictual updates about his condition from her and from my dad (who is for some reason getting info from my ex-boyfriend who is now dating my cousin --- that's a whole other can of worms). I'm so worried about my uncle and our friend and I just want today to be over SO BAD and for everyone to be okay.

and now from my mom: "well, since this is already bad news day, I guess I should just get this off my chest..." - goes on to tell me my aunt has cancer. WTF?!?!?!?! This is just getting ridiculous. I'm going to bed before anyone tells me anything else.

So before I went to sleep I talked with my cousin and she told me they did a scan on my uncle and found a mass. This morning they did an MRI and diagnosed him with stage 3-4 brain cancer. I'm just beside myself.

I wouldn't be concerned about "staying positive." You're in a situation where anyone would naturally feel some grief, maybe some additional anxiety, too.
