Ok, who's on it and did it help with depression? My Dr upped my Lamictal and added 100 mg of seroquel. It knock me the **** out! I've already said if I gain weight I'll quit taking it. Dr said at a low dose I won't gain.

A low dose of Seroquel helps my sleep. Besides that, Seroquel (in higher doses) has not done anything for me. But it does help a lot of people.
Thanks for this!

I am also on 100mg of Seroquel. It does absolutely nothing for me. Some days it will knock me out within 2 hours, other days it doesn't knock me out at all. I have been on it for 2 months and I have actually lost weight but it does vary person to person for the weight gain.

I have heard some get Seroquel munchies shortly after taking the dosage if they don't go to sleep right away but I haven't experienced this. To me, this pill is more like a sugar pill (minus the nights it does work to help me sleep).
Thanks for this!

Been on Seroquel immediate release for about 5 years. Dosage has gotten slowly increased over the years and I'm at 600mg at night. About 9 of 10 nights it helps me get to sleep. That other night is just my worries that I'm allowing to eat me alive. I have to use legal botanicals to help that 10th night or I will be awake.
Here's the scary but. I am chemically addicted to Seroquel though. If I skip a single dose, I feel horrible for at least 2 days, even though I've taken the next dose on schedule and even though I slept anyway the night I missed the dose. That bothers me but not much.
As for depression, I don't think it helps, even when I started it for depression, in the extended release form. That felt like crap but I did sleep for about a month, which I didn't complain about because when I was awake I kept either contemplating or attempting suicide. That was a rough month. I ate maybe 5 times total. I made it through and with meds again adjusted the depression did finally lift, but I don't think Seroquel had anything to do with it. I think it was just bipolar 1 working its way through.

I went from 295 while taking 200 to now at 198 taking 600mg over course of 5 years. I stopped losing weight about 9 weeks ago and started gaining. It's gotta be muscle because I exercise away more than I eat most days. I've only lost around 25 this year total, but this year I first started working out, in over 40 years of life. I'm truly a "new year/new me" person. I've only drank twice. I'm not constantly looking for that adrenaline burst from anywhere. I got divorced from an emotionally abusive b-word after putting up with it for over 20 years and being married almost that long. I was for the first time ever free of racing thoughts, for over 4 months, and though they returned, I have gotten them to slow to a trickle again and sometimes I can clear my mind of all the BS. I am now spiritual and possibly a Buddhist, though not by teachings, but by life and am pursuing the idea that I probably am a Buddhist. I think I know what loving relationships are supposed to be, but I guarantee I've never had one before with anyone. I'm not looking for anything in life other than being happy and healthy. I have slipped and flopped plenty, but I'm recovering from a lifetime of either neglect or abuse.
I kinda went on a tangent there, huh? Took me too long to write it. You didn't have to read it all

600mg of Seroquel at bedtime. I’ve lost... a lot of weight since dosage increase. Still doesn’t slow me much.

Some APs enhance the effect of some ADs.

I'm not on any antidepressants here. They make me full goose bozo manic. I wish my meds helped more to lessen depression, but they don't. I have my botanicals that help. If it weren't for my kava and kratom teas(mellowing and pain relief) with a capsule of 5-htp(when it gets REALLY BAD), I don't know where I'd be.

I'm on 150-100 mg for sleep. I have gained a few pounds and started having eye brow twitching. Not 100% sure the weight gain is from it but I'm sure the twitching is. Hope you get no side effects!

Has that twitching been investigated? You've told your Dr? Sometimes that's the beginning of the Black box scary stuff. I only speak from experience. I've had every "rare" response over time to most things or they just quit working altogether

I can barely take any. It only helps with sleep. i only need 25 mg to sleep. Took a lot more to get to sleep when I was hypomanic, and had to take olanzapine to come down. So it doesn't help much with hypomania.

It doesn't help w depression-I had to decrease the dose-I was on 150 mg and could barely function when I crashed down from hypomania to depression. So it didn't stop either the hypomania or the depression.

It is, however, a good sleeping pill.

Thanks for the responses. It sounds like it doesn't help with depression. I don't know what this Dr was thinking. I went in with major depression and SI.

I take 100 at night. Been taking it so long I don't remember if I gained weight early on. My weight has been stable years now so I'm not gaining.

I do get seroquel munchies. I try to keep healthy snacks on hand like apples, trail mix, cheese and crackers, a side of beef,.... If I don't I'll go in the fridge and eat half a cheese cake.

I can't get antidepressants because of the risk of mania. My dolc says if she can control the highs, it keeps me from crashing down into the lows. I'm pulling out of a low now by decreasing the seroquel. And also decreasing the gabapentin.

It is painful, I know.

That's why I don't get antidepressants any more. It was nice kicking butt in college on full mania for a few years tho. I have more credits than a master's needs, but only an AS

I loved the way the gabapentin felt. It was like I was doing every kind of chemical you can do, all at once, and wide awake for it. I only had it for three months. Go figure

On the gabapentin-I loved it at first, and took more to the max the doc would give. It made me energetic. In hindsight, it triggered hypomania starting it. I need it for anxiety though. Oddly, now that I've crashed down, it makes me tired. I'm so confused by this. The doc said to cut down on it and take it consistently. At least she didn't take it away.

It just doesn't make me feel great like it did at first

Ever try teas? There is a brand, Yogi, that has a great one for relaxation that doesn't make me tired at all. It contains kava, a natural anxiolytic without dependency issues that benzos do. Discuss it with your Dr if you're leary of it. I personally have had great luck with kava
