I take 2 meds directly for Bipolar......I take meds for stomach problems and migraines which I think are caused from anxiety, therefore they are psych related......and since I'm realizing how sick my anxiety makes me ALL THE TIME, I'm thinking I need to add Buspar to my cocktail too. That will mean that in total I'm taking about 5 meds currently and soon will be taking 6. Maybe it will work, maybe it won't. Most people don't want to take meds......I know I sure don't. I think it's always best to start slow and low then add as needed. Some people on this board are pretty stable on meds so it must be possible. I'm still searching for my cocktail that works. I hope you find what works for you.

Christ. Have you ever taken lithium?

Wavering. No havering. I’ll tell you now that grown men cry and Irish girls are pretty.

Yes I have taken lithium years ago, so what ?!!!! It helped me at the time it's not a bad drug for everyone.

I don't know why you got your panties in a twist over my " waver" comment.

Lithium works for some people. If it works for you, awesome.
Lithium is what I took when my thyroid died. I gained massive weight in less than 3 months, 90 pounds! It also didn't help with anything. I attempted 5 times during those three months with my Dr telling me to suffer through. So grateful insurances changed that next year. He's no longer practicing. Lost his license.

I'm on 2 bipolar meds and one for anxiety. A mood stabilizer wasn't enough for depression, so had to add Latuda. I try to be on as few meds on as low dosages as I can get away with to be stable. Occasionally I'll throw an in AP to knock out a mixed episode for about a month then drop it like a hot potato.
Word. I don't like meds, I hate the idea of meds, and I'm very conservative with dosages.

Nonetheless, I do recognize that no one gives out prizes for suffering, and if a med can keep me from suffering, I'll give it a shot. I've tried a bunch, I'm on a bunch, and it's what works for me right now.

Geez, guys, lighten up. If they help more than they suck, take 'em. If you need more than one, no big deal. You can always stop taking a med if it turns sour on you.

It's your own manifestation of a general condition. Own it.

If meds work..take them. If meds don't work...don't take them. Let's not go beating each other over the head with the judgement stick. We're all in the boat here.

Perhaps that was YOUR experience. MY experience was that for the first time in most of my life I had a cognitive life...not numbed up/dumbed up...just happy, healthy, and totally functional. G*d, I can't wait to get back on lithium!!!

Careful with the "don't take them." When I found meds that worked somewhat, but wanted my mania anyway, I told the Dr and others that things were fine but knew they weren't working. I have a provider now that is a truth machine. She can look at me and tell my states, even when I was still suicidal after hospital but told her I was fine and even smiled. I stopped lying about it with her at that point and things got real

I said if meds don't WORK... don't take them. I didn't say if you want a buzz don't take them and then lie to your therapist.

True.
Do note that those around you know whether they're working more than you most times, unless you're an emotional stealth-ninja like me. It's not a good thing to be, BTW

Lithium completely works for me. I started with 1500 Depakote and after four months, I switched to 1800 lithium. I've been on it for probably two years, can't even remember. Lithium never bothers me - I just make sure I take it with food.
