Hello everyone,

Today around 10 AM CST I received a text from my 20 year old daughter. It said her boyfriend broke up with her and that she was going to end it all. She said, she took a bottle of pills. That she was bleeding out. She had a history of cutting.
We live in two different counties. I called 911 but had to ask to be routed to her county. You can only imagine how fast I was driving on the high way trying to get to her place. She lives alone.
When I arrived the police and ambulance was just pulling up. I have a key. She had taken a lot of pills and her arms were bleeding real bad. We are at a hospital now. The hospital has a psych floor but there full. They gave her a choice of other psych hospitals that her insurance covers. She was worried about her job. We talked about that. I’m going to have her email her manager a discrete email. She’s getting some test ran. We all know it might take all night before she gets a bed. Even with private insurance.

Oh hun my heart is breaking for you.

I’m so glad you got to her in time. She’s lucky to have you. It’s sad but at times we lose our ability to be rational when things happen in life that seem impossible to handle .

I hope they find a bed for her soon.

Remember to take care if you also

The doc on call has decided to admit my daughter to the medical floor. Because her blood pressure is low and her heart rate is still real high. They can not transport her to a psychiatric hospital when she is not medically stable. I just had to leave the hospital because my poor dog has been home in her crate since early this morning. I have to walk her and let her stretch her legs. Thank you so much for all the support. Me and my daughter were just planning on going to a NAMI support group together next month.

I’m so sorry, Coco. If I had seen this sooner I would have told you that the hospital could put her somewhere-they should be assigning someone to watch her 24/7 anyway. The psych staff can get on the elevator to see her.

I’ve been through this, but it was my mom

Hello everyone,

Today I went to the hospital to visit my daughter. She is now medically clear. The hospital had a bed in their behavioral health area. They had security take us the the unit. Me and my youngest daughter waited outside. My daughter K called me asking why they would not let her leave. I told her it’s the law. She started screaming and yelling. I told K to calm down or their going to sedate you. The phone hung up. I was sitting right outside the unit doors. I could hear her screaming. Three security officers came down the hall and went through the doors. A few minutes later a staff member came out. He told me she was upset and did not want to stay. The staff person said we could not see K today. Then gave me a paper and said come back Tuesday for family therapy. Two hours later my daughter K called. She was processing everything that happened with her boyfriend. I told her she needed to focus on getting better. Then try to go to college.
