I don't celebrate it myself, but I always watch the countdown/ chimes at midnight

I really don't know why, it's not like I do it any other day of the year... maybe just that it's special?

(that's coming from someone who doesn't think it's special. hmm). I'm a bit weird

question:

what is your favorite movie/ story/ tv special/ what ever, that has a family in it and is centred around family life?

I love Pride and Prejudice. The movie was good, but the British TV series version with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth was great. I've seen both versions many times. I have both on DVDs. That story definitely focuses on families, but of course Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett are the main characters.

What movie(s)/TV series/show have you seen many many times? Approximately how many times?

I've seen the lion king...... I don't know how many times

I watch it 20/30 times a year, and I've been doing that since aged 9, so over 100

exactly the same with the muppet's christmas carol. it's tradition for me to watch it once a year, however this year I've watched it like 3 times

tv show wise benidorm is probably top- I've seen all 10 series multiple times, with some episodes even more than that (the episodes with janey york as hotel manager)

the episodes of big bang theory that include soft kitty warm kitty just never get old- same with the one when howard comes back from space

oh

and family guy... the episode where stewie auditions for the peanut butter comercial

name something you will never watch again. you watched, but didn't like it/ never got in to it

Wow! I can hardly think of even one good thing in response to this question. My parents were very easy-going parents for the most part, but the things they really thought were important I totally agree with. In regards to those, if I had had children I would have been strict about those, as well. Some are things that kids/teens nowadays don't do, that really annoys the heck out of me.There were some things that my parents were too lax about that if I had ever had children I would have been even stricter about. And yet, I think I would have allowed any kids a certain additional freedom that many parents don't nowadays. I think that modern parents make their kids think the world is so scary. That's a horrible message and an overblown one. Not to say kids shouldn't be taught what dangers to look for and how to avoid/escape them, but to teach them to avoid things completely is terrible!

Do you ever wish your parents had pushed you harder into doing something? If so, are you willing to share what that was?

never.

well, I might stop at the mcdonalds drive through if I'm on the way back from shopping or something, but I don't eat out as a rule. takeout, sure, but I get it delivered.

I'd like to eat out more, but I have to think about money.

can you think of someone/ something you recently got out of your life which did you some good

I won't mention the first thing that came to my mind because it is contraversial and may not happen. The second thing is hopefully getting some volunteer opportunity to help me move forward a bit.

Will you be relieved when the holidays are over, or a little sad?

Didn't give and didn't receive. Was a bit of a miser this year.

What was the last book you read for fun (or are currently reading for fun)? Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain for me!

I gave gifts to my family.
Truffle infused olive oil to my stepdad
Sushi Go Party game to my mom
Stone Age game to my dad and stepmom
Charades for Kids for my niece and nephew

Answered at the same time.

I read a book called Third Degree about a hostage situation. It’s by Greg Iles

What are your plans for New Year’s Eve?

I will not go out, because I have been having a lot of sleep issues lately and can't stay up too late.

Do you like champagne?

no.

I think all this "new year new start thing" is a load of tosh

the way I see it is like this

if new year was really a new start, then everything in life we didn't like or hurt us would be deleted like a computer programme.

new year new start..... it's a number. that's all

oh I know, it's the 1st october tomorrow- let's make a fresh start because september's finished

no no no. you don't do that. what's fresh about the new year is the number

nothing else.

favorite way to relax (which is not sleep.)

Not very. I live with and care for two family members in varying degrees of poor health and feel a bit tied down right now. Some day, I’d love to live on my own and be free to come and go without obligations.

Have you made peace with your diagnosis?

Sort of. Some days more than others. I've made as much peace with it as I have with other major factors of my life that are unfavourable. But I am more at peace with it than when I was first diagnosed.

Do you have a pet or pets?

Yes. I have a Hahn's macaw (mini macaw) who is pictured in my screen avatar. He'll be 2 years old in March. Love him!

What is your usual fall asleep time and wake up time? What do you do to help yourself fall asleep?
Thanks for this!
