Are we allowed to post weights?

I too am following a lower carb diet, not actually counting carbs just trying to be mindful. and It is working...have lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks.

Had a small salad and bowl of chicken soup for lunch, and shrimp coconut soup for dinner with a pork chop. The soup was left overs from this thai restaurant the other night. It was very spicy!

The emphasis is different for everyone. We're all going through varying physical experiences. The goal is just to support one another as we go. Sometimes people post their current strategies to tackle challenges and other times we just post for support on our aches, pains and physical illnesses. It is all welcome.

You can most definitely post weights and diet related updates. Happy to have you join us!!!

Thank you fern!
I was just looking back at my notes and I weighed 137 on 11-1-15.
four years later I weighed 192....That is 55 pounds!
I blame the weight gain on drinking. I was drinking fattening craft beers and many of them. And some of the meds that I was on did not help:abilify, seroquel, zyprexa. Now am on lithium so don't know if that is a weight gainer or not...I think it is. Supposedly geodon is weight neutral.
So I have lost 5 pounds so am happy about that. 10% lost.

Just recovering from a really bad cold that started last Wednesday. Spent Thursday and Friday in my pajamas, coughing so hard over the weekend that the nerves in my spine were apparently re-compressed and agonizing pains were shooting down both legs.

I was so sick I missed every Veterans Day program by the schools and employers of all five of my kids and all three grandchildren. I know they are all proud of their dad/grand-dad, and I'm very honored to have served. Maybe next year.

All that on top of a lingering depression had me lying on the bed most of the time. I'm supposed to be rapid-cycling so why am I so miserable? There are more appointments coming up soon with pdoc and tdoc -- maybe they can arrange a proper sleep test -- but won't see pain doc until next month. There's no telling when I'll see a neurologist, if ever.

On the other hand, I just had a full physical by my primary, and am in prefect health and labs are perfect. Well, except GGT, which is 540% high, which would normally indicate that I'm dead (complete liver failure!). But some people, it seems, have naturally high GGT and nobody knows why. It's heretical and it seems to be harmless. Sure scares doctors

@randal Thank you for your service and sorry you were not able to attend any of the veterans day services with your family.
As sorry for your pain....is medical pot legal in your state? It is very helpful for pain. Lots of people use CBD also for pain control.
does the elevated GGT enzymes mean you can't take advil?
just curious.

I have another stomach ache (seems to be my new norm)

I know what's causing it: it's my binge eating and my eating too fast, but I can't help myself and keep doing it

I should probably learn by now.. because these stomach aches are horrible

but I don't

I do that sometimes too. I know exactly where it will lead and its like I forget for the moment. I wish life worked in reverse sometimes and made us experience the stomachache for a bit before we eat so that we'd make better choices. One might put the chilidog down if they had to sit through burping up liquid fire before they ate it...

I’ve been good with carbs and calories for the week so far. Trying to keep my carbs for dinner. Today I had grilled cheese and fries from the diner so not so good on carbs, but I only ate half of each so that’s not so bad.

I had an Atkins bar in the morning, then two pieces of string cheese for lunch. After driving all over creation (see my update in the check in thread) I decided to get McDonald’s and got two McDoubles but I only ate the meat. Lots of grease but only 6 carbs so not too horrible.

I’ve gotten so used to being hungry all the time it doesn’t even bother me anymore. My dr said that the office would call me if anything urgent came up in my bloodwork so I’m assuming it didn’t show high prolactin or a high A1C. Which I guess is good but doesn’t explain my symptoms. That’s a bit frustrating. And I have to wait until Jan 2 to discuss it bc that’s the first available appt after 4:30, when I get home from work. But like I said I’m so used to being hungry that it’s like whatever.

I’m going away with RS this weekend for our one year anniversary so I’m not going to be as strict with calories and carbs. Sometimes you just have to take a break! I probably won’t be able to stop myself from tracking though. It’s like a compulsion now. Even when I know it will depress me because I’m so far over calories I still need to see.

Ah well.

hmm. I don't know.

I imagine that it would put me off my food after I've just burped random liquid up

then again, it might clean the body I guess and you might have more of an apetite

I don't like bodily fluids, none of them. I get that they are useful, but just the thought that I produce them and also expel them.... iwwwww. grrrrr

guess I should be glad I am not a nurse. seriously, that job would not be for me at all

It is so dry in my house that I really had to slather on the moisturizer and Vaseline on my lips. I have dry mouth, too, so even my usual large amount of water consumption is not enough. We have a humidifier as part of our central heating system, but it must not be operating properly, or it needs to be adjusted.

This may sound strange, for a some nights I half wake up in the middle of the night feeling like my left hand is puffy. It isn't visually puffy. When I finally wake up it doesn't feel odd. I am wondering if it has been a dream or reality. If it's reality, what is causing it?

Are you sleeping on your hand? I sometimes put mine under my head and it feels off when I wake up.

It definitely could be. I do roll around in my sleep. Though it hasn't happened in recent years, there were times in the past when I woke up and my whole arm was asleep. I could barely even move it until I literally shook it a bit with my other hand.

I am wired and at the same time tired. I know that's a contradictory statement. It's hard to explain.

I am officially back on the reservation! After days of junk food, I finally got ahold of myself and started eating clean today and I walked a mile this morning. I’m headed back to water aerobics tomorrow. Feeling empowered.

Heavier on the carbs today but I ate a lot of fiber too. If you follow Atkins that means you can take the total amount of fiber out of your daily carbs, so if you go by that I’ve only had 97g carbs. Otherwise I’ve had 127g. Either way it’s really not so bad. I barely ate until dinner time though. I had a meal bar and two cheese sticks. Then for dinner I had chili and rice.

I definitely feel like my pants are fitting better, even though the scale said I gained a pound. I wish I could stop being obsessed with the number but I just really want to get down to 200lbs again. I’ll still be obese but less so.

I got test results back that my cholesterol is high. No doubt due to my ****** eating habits. So I’m going to work on lowering that too.

Yay! My pants fit today! Got a real bad cold a week ago, and I guess I let my appetite run loose for a while while getting pretty much zero exercise. My weight went up over 10 pounds immediately, but it's going back down some since then. Maybe I've been bloated, too -- the past week has been, shall we say, fragrant -- but I can't think of anything out of the normal that I've eaten and none of meds list gas/bloat as a side effect. Maybe phlegm is fattening, ugh. Oh, well, I just hope energy goes back up over the weekend as I have p- and t-doc appointments the 19th and 21st.

Although, when I think about it, I think treatment has been more effective when I'm not my normal chipper-appearing self, but go to sessions feeling either too happy or absolutely rotten.

Any chance your bodice is tight? I used to (like teens and early adulthood) wake up unable to move one or both hands or arms, having to sling and flail to get them moving, and finally decided to get some medical help, although it always wore off quickly. But before I made the appointment I thought, what if the blood is getting cut off ? It never happened when I wasn't wearing a pajama top/tee-shirt, so I started cutting the armpits out of any shirts I wore to bed, and the problem disappeared completely. These days on a cool night (freezing cold to Mary )) I just wear the tee-shirts I have left over from when I was 2x-L and larger.

My rheumatologist said he wants to wait for starting a new Med until my breathing returns to normal , unless I get a psoriasis outbreak then we will start one regardless. So hurry up and wait in pain..

I’m really struggling with so much chronic pain made even worse every time a cold front comes through. I’m like behind the pain..if mentally I can get in front of it I can handle much better.. sucks for sure.

Ultra sound on my liver tomorrow.

I hope the ultrasound goes well. How have you gotten in front of the pain in the past? It makes sense that battling it mentally will provide some relief. There are also some who believe placing your brain waves in an altered state can help. There are lots of YouTube videos on this with music and meditations. I searched 'music for pain relief'. I'm not sure if it would help and you may have already tried it. I just find that when I'm battling anything, getting my brain to change gears to move into a more relaxed state is often a solid first step.

Much love to you Christina. We all hate to see you suffering like this and want to see you feeling better soon.

Physically?
I am in so much pain...
I am exhausted because I have not slept more than 2-3 hours a night for weeks now. I am sure this exacerbates the pain and vice versa.

Fern, I do believe reaching a state of relaxation (and alternate states/brain waves) can be very helpful in both managing pain (to some degree, and I will take any relief I can get) and in increasing the potential for possibly getting some additional sleep.

I have ordered a product with ingredients much like the tinctures an herbalist used to make for me. She'd made different strengths. I would use a less potent mix during the daytime and a highly potent mix at night. If I was getting hypomanic, I would use the night-time tincture during the day. Sadly, she has passed on. I have not found an herbalist so talented since.

This product has the same ingredients she had used in the tinctures she had made for me.
This is a transdermal patch and is time released so there is less likely to be a "hangover" in the morning.

This is called:Klova - Topical Sleep ZPatch. Naturally a Better Night's Sleep. I intend to try this over the weekend.
I will follow-up , sharing my experience.
I hope everyone has a healthy weekend!
