I never thought of mall walking. I hate the cold so I wouldn’t go out from now until May probably, and it’s too dark to walk around here anyway - there are no sidewalks, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable walking in the road in the dark. The problem with walking is that I always have to have my son with me and he complains that it’s boring, but if we walked In the mall I bet he’d like it more. Maybe I can convince RS to come with us a few days a week.

I blew low carb yesterday with three slices of pizza (I was super hungry of course) but I didn’t do so bad today. I had scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast, the other two slices of pizza for lunch, and chicken breast, green beans, and a small serving of noodles for dinner. Came in under 120 carbs, which is what I’m aiming for. I probably shouldn’t have had the pizza but I didn’t want it to go to waste, nor did I want to spend money on another lunch.

Having my son’s Halloween candy around is killing me though lol I keep sneaking little pieces here and there. But I guess one fun size Twix a day is better than a whole package!

I have found, thanks to WC suggestions, that I am indeed less hungry when eating protein than I am when eating carbs. I still have a gnawing hunger, but it’s not as desperate as it has been. My goal is to keep my carbs under 120g a day. So far three days this week I’ve been able to do that. I had a low carb breakfast and lunch. The only reason I had a high carb dinner was bc RS cooked way more potatoes than he anticipated lol. It was supposed to be half a bag af hash browns. And we added eggs. But he dumped the whole bag in by accident. So I felt obligated to take a big spoonful. It was delicious though. Then I had a low carb snack. Sopressata and cheese. I have to come up with more low carb snacks because I am getting tired of cheese already.

I am so glad it's working out for you!

I need to pay more attention to my diet and do the same thing!

Yes, can get tired of cheese.

I sometimes eat:

Protein bar
Boiled egg
Pain Greek yogurt with unsweeted berries
High Protein Glucerna or Boost
Cottage Cheese

Maybe nut butter on celery (depending upon the nutritional info)

I often cook extra meat and use the extra for snacks (can be cheaper if buy in bulk and on sale).

Deli meat/cheese (rolled up)

I'll think on it. Am in a bit of a hurry.

I wanted to tell you that each time I interact with you, I learn something that really helps me out. I am thankful for you and our exchanges.

Oh! I'd just read that people who eat protein for breakfast lose 20% more wieght. (?) I forget the source of that info at the moment.

I find it's especially fun to walk in the mall over the holidays. I take a pedometer and slowly increase my distance and time.

If anyone recalls, I was mostly in a wheelchair and/or on crutches and had rehabbed myself by walking, even when all doctors told me I would never be able to do so. They'd said all of the damage was permanent. I worked with my chiropractor: she did not think I could rehab either, but she was willing to work with me. She has many certifications and degrees and we became very creative. I went from walking approx 100 feet to 3 miles over 2 months.

Sometimes, we must accept things.
Sometimes, with some effort and positive thinking, we can make some changes, even when the "experts" say no.

I hope you and your son enJOY the mall together!

Truer words were never spoken. I just lived a year full of proving most every expert I worked with wrong. It is always worthwhile to try because sometimes we prevail against all odds.

Great news about the weight loss, Moose!

You said you were taking Metformin? Is your appetite still a little less?

Meatloaf is so good! Oats are whole grains. Whole grains are good.

Well I just ate a bunch of carbs (popcorn) and I feel terrible. I feel so hungry. This has been an interesting experiment so far. Protein really is the way to go. Every time I have a high carb meal or snack I feel worse. I’m so glad you brought this up to me, wild coyote! I was stubborn and convinced it wouldn’t work but it does. Maybe I’ll even lose some weight. I lost weight on extreme low carb three years ago but I’m not doing extreme right now. I have to ease into it.

I am so happy it helps you!
I have had your symptoms before and was hoping I could help out.
It's miserable to feel that way on and on.

Much Love to You!

I buy the large pack of boneless skinless chicken breast. Usually 8-9 in each pack. Take and clean an entire pack. Put them in the crock pot all day, have one for dinner, with veggies, and a salad, watch the calories from dressings tho.

All the rest of the chicken slice up and just put in fridge. If you get hungry go grab some.

There are things like Mrs Dash to add flavor but not salt, or just add lemon, lime, pepper, basil, oregano chives etc etc.

When cooking with a crock pot you only need enough water to cover the bottom of it , I have a large one so I use maybe 1-1/4 cups water.

I’d seriously hate life without my crock pot lol

I have let things go since the onset of the pain. I’ve got my grocery list together, I’ll go shopping for my green foods today with the grace of God and will start back to water aerobics Monday. Tomorrow, I plan on walking the mall (partly because Bath & Body is giving away a free product with coupon, the mall is huge and I don’t know where it is so my motives are not entirely pure).

I had more carbs today than I wanted to. I am embarrassed to tell RS that I am trying low carb, not sure why, but nonetheless ...so he suggested sandwiches for breakfast so I said yes. Then we went to Texas Roadhouse for a late lunch/early dinner with my in laws. Well there’s absolutely NOTHING healthy there. Not even the salads. Not even the damn house salad. I had intended to eat the burger sans bun, but I was so hungry by the time it came out that I ate the whole thing. Then I had three pieces of Halloween candy. So yeah, blew it on the carbs and calories today. But tomorrow’s another day!

But, if my scale is to be believed, I have lost nearly five pounds from my heaviest weight two weeks ago. I still don’t quite believe it, but my scale should be accurate bc I weighed myself right before my dr appt last Tuesday and I weighed the sane amount at the dr office. So I’m going it’s true. I hope I’ll lose another pound this week if I really stick to lower carb.

I'm feeling dehydrated today. I'm definitely hitting the water hard. I stayed super busy over the weekend and just didn't drink enough I guess. I just finished my workout and I'm feeling a little tired. I need to rally though because we're taking the kids to the park in a bit. It is a beautiful day out and it is going to be super cold for the next few days. We need to enjoy the sunshine and warmer temps while we have them.

How is everyone feeling today? I know several are struggling and I am thinking of you and sending well wishes. Much love to all!

I had gotten a fair amount of exercise doing "feats of strength" here at the house.
I have also injured myself. I hope to get better with each passing day.
I am "alone" now and have to do some things I have not done.

I did ride the stationery bike today for 20 minutes.

It is now snowing here. Beautiful stuff! I may have to do walks at the mall from here on out. will see. Love to all!

I had tuna salad from the local convenience store. Normally I have a sandwich but today I had just the salad on some greens. Unfortunately, I have looked up the nutrition info and it is not good. There are still 13g carbs in the tuna salad, which means they are adding sugar. And it is very calorie heavy. I’m afraid I will just have to make it an occasional treat instead of a common occurrence.

I did not eat breakfast this morning because I slept until 2pm (I know, I know) but for dinner we had tacos. I ate mostly meat, cheese, and sour cream. I did have one tortilla though, which I hope won’t make me feel too bad. It was at least whole wheat. Then I had a small piece of chocolate. Yes, that will spike my blood sugar, but it was too delicious to deny myself.

I have enough calories left for a small snack so I will have a couple of pieces of cheese before bedtime.

I need to see my GP to get new meds for my GERD since Zantac was recalled. I also need to get bloodwork done since my psychiatrist said I'm due for it. So I'm hoping to get all all that done tomorrow if there's any walk in appointments available at the clinic I go to.

How come I have not read this thread? I think the exercise emphasis scared me a way. then I read that it is about dieting as well so maybe I can post here? I have a sprained ankle still and am waiting for that to be all better to go to the gym. I really need to go walk on the tred mill again.....I am so out of shape!

Are we allowed to post weights?

I too am following a lower carb diet, not actually counting carbs just trying to be mindful. and It is working...have lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks.

Had a small salad and bowl of chicken soup for lunch, and shrimp coconut soup for dinner with a pork chop. The soup was left overs from this thai restaurant the other night. It was very spicy!
