I put this on the check in thread.
But ... my liver ultrasound came back .. fatty liver, it’s the same as the previous one in Florida it’s not worse, thank goodness. Of course it’s diet and exercise. Now if my lungs will allow.. Had my pulmonary functions test this am.. oh damn it was hard. I’ll get those results December 16th

Have sores in my mouth from biting my cheeks really hard in my sleep due to meds. Have had a dentist check them out and they gave me some rinses to help soothe/heal them but it still keeps happening and is a little frustrating because they hurt and every time I move my mouth, talk or eat I can feel them. It keeps happening, every time they heal I end up doing it again either in my sleep or during the day. Concerned I'm developing TD again.. anyway, just a small issue but it's been irritating me for awhile now

All I ate today were two yogurts, two Eggo Nutrigrain waffles with raspberry preserves, berries and a little whipped cream, and a Whopper Jr. (no cheese) and a small fry. Good one, huh?
Hubby is out with his buddies. I was glad not to have to cook, but I am feeling the ill feeling one gets when they don't eat enough vegetables. |

Seeing the cardiologist on Monday. I’m at risk of a sudden cardiac event because of a congenital defect I was born with combined with the ‘old age’ of being 48yrs old.
My QTC interval is also prolonged due to AP use. This worries me - I really don’t want a med change as I’ve been stable for 4mths for the first time ever. I don’t understand how healthcare works in the USA but it seems to be a cruel and unnecessary punishment to withhold pain relief from those who are suffering.

Healthcare in the US is a hot mess. The problems do not stem from a lack of abundance. There is more than enough money and the resources are available. However, our political system allows endless dollars to be spent on political lobbyists that ensure laws and policy benefit drug companies and healthcare providers instead of patients. Policies are not written to protect the rights of patients. They are written to avoid the most costly lawsuits. It is quite sad really. We have so much heart and talent and yet caregiver's hands are often tied. They lose hope after years of red tape and failed workflows and patients receive substandard care in far too many cases. I'm a strategist and I've looked at this system from a number of angles. Change will not occur until the root problem of greed is addressed. |

Hugs, Pookyl! I reminded my brother the other day how talented doctors are at treating heart issues. Take good care.
fern, thank you for bringing up the issues relating to healthcare in the US. Everyone needs to fight for improvements in the system so it is available to everyone and doesn't continue to cost an arm and a leg. Voting accordingly is important. Or, if people don't like the party that is proposing these improvements, it's important to stress the need for improvements to the party they prefer. |

A good thing I discovered today is that I lost 2 lbs this past week. It wasn't from dieting. More from stress.
This morning, my stress clearly showed itself in a physical way. I don't know how to tastefully describe it, so I'll do so my husband's favorite way. Mud on the playground. |

I've had a good week from an activity perspective. I exercised every day this week and rocked out a lot of physical chores. I also played a lot with my kids. There will probably be a few exercise break days next week due to the holidays, so I'm glad I was able to stick to my goals.
I've eaten too many sweets this week. I plan to cut way back to make room for pumpkin pie on Thursday ![]() BirdDancer, oh no! Tummy troubles are the worst and I've also had that happen after several days of intense stress. I know it is a bit bittersweet given everything going on, but I'm glad you'll be relaxing in Florida soon. Feel better! ![]() |

I have kept my carbs under 120g for the whole week, and I have been under calories as well. In the morning I have a protein bar or shake, and for lunch I’ve been having some sort of meat (alternating between sopressata and chicken) and cheese. I save all my carbs for dinner. I do feel better physically. I’m still pretty hungry but less so when I eat protein, and as I said I’ve become used to it so it doesn’t bother me as much. Not as thirsty as I was.
Tomorrow I will weigh myself. I’ve been weighing myself all week but at the end of the day after I’ve eaten and drank all day and with all my clothes on. Can’t really tell if I’ve list weight. I don’t think so. I’m not surprised though after my gluttonous weekend. I don’t really have a chance to exercise since I have to pick my son up at 4:30 and I don’t get home till four. It’s too cold and dark for me to walk by then. However, following my kid around all day this week has given me lots of walking time!

I have been very tired due to chronic insomnia. it's okay for awhile, but there is an eventual crash for me.
![]() I've injured my hip joint in a big way. Tiny moves reinjure it. it's extremely painful most of the time. That hip is so contracted (likely guarding), I have had to have my mother tie my shoes! ![]() I hope to get back to regular stretching and aerobic activity shortly.

I ate a normal-sized breakfast and lunch, but feel like they were too much. My appetite has been much smaller than usual. After lunch, I ate one pretzel rod and now I feel like I ate a Thanksgiving dinner.

So I weigh exactly the same as I did three weeks ago. I was disappointed but then I went over my logs and realized I went over calories and carbs quite a lot in the beginning of this low carb journey. So now I don’t feel AS bad. I mean last week I was really good, but then I had my delicious weekend so I’m sure that threw everything off track. I usually go off the rails on weekends because we eat out a lot but this time I haven’t. I had tomato pie yesterday after a low carb day so I still stayed under calories and carbs. Then today I had half an auntie Anne’s cinnamon pretzel (ate the rest of my son’s) which drove up my carbs but I’m still only at 76g. So that’s good. I plan on having eggs for breakfast tomorrow. Not sure about lunch. We have my son’s ice cream party at 2p so I might have a small sundae. Then I will figure out something for dinner. So I should be able to stay in track tomorrow too.

My heartburn and indigestion are back. Probably a result of the stress relating to the flight tomorrow. I hope there are no delays or other problems. The good thing is that it's a local airport. Not some giant international airport. We are also flying into a comparatively small airport.
Airports are HUGE stressors for me. I'm not afraid of flying. Just the airport chaos. |

I’ve read that one of the side effects of my medication is weight gain. My plan, if successful, is to head it off at the pass through proper nutrition, hydration, movement and supplements. If this doesn’t work, I may request a change in medication. I’m not willing to re-gain the weight I’ve lost when there are other options available.

![]() I happen to think this is very wise! In fact, unless your current med is serving you very well, you might consider choosing one of the "other options" you have mentioned now/first It's tough to have to accept any large amount of weight gain, any progression in meeting the criteria for diabetes and/or any amount of liver damage Some of these meds alter glucose metabolism in a way that is likely to cause diabetes and/or liver injury. I had a vague understanding before. After talking to a couple of my docs about this over the past week, I more clearly see the cause and effect. If I had this clear of an understanding before, I would have quit the med (Seroquel) much sooner. There may be times when we do not have a choice. You have mentioned having other options? Maybe I am being a sore loser just because some med has seriously harmed my health and/or because a part of this is an injured liver? ![]() We all will do well to choose as wisely as possible, especially if/when we have other options! I care about you and don't want to see you somehow harmed by medication if you have a choice. ![]()

It's most unfortunate that doctors will take an incredible amount of time out of their schedule explaining how a drug(s) causes a liver injury AFTER it has occurred, when they'll only utter one sentence about it BEFORE the damage is done. It certainly appears as though doctors/medicine are/is reactive when efforts should be proactive/preventative.
![]() I am thinking it's up to us to help to educate our peers. ![]()

![]() I was using my situation hoping to get my point across. Please never apologize for asking questions, even repeatedly. ![]() I will meet with my doctor soon in order to discuss this further. I am a little confused at this time about just how the liver heals, as I have heard differing answers on this. As of right now, it is my understanding that healing involves; removing any toxic influence, decreasing sugar intake, basically eating a Paleo/keto type of a diet, keeping blood lipids/cholesterol low, exercise... and most likely an overall healthy lifestyle. ![]() I have heard varying opinions on whether or not actual healing takes place (reversal of damage) or if taking these measures is the best chance to stop progression. Please do ask anything, and repeatedly, anytime at all! ![]()
