Having a hard time moderating.....
spending too much time with my clients making me late to every thing! I swear it is my excoriation disorder....picking at my clients cuticles dry skin etc. It is like I am so obsessed I can't leave a job half done. It has to be perfect. I am spending any where from 1.25 hours to 2 hours per person. I have been getting home after 6 pm lately. also staying on the computer too long making me late for my first client and late coming to bed after midnight. I get a monthly nutrition news letter that I am 2 months behind in. I am in the middle of a med change so after this increase in tegretol I am hoping for some evening out. I have been hypomanic for a while now. bizi

I notice some of you posted your conditions and meds. I hope to have the time to do the same soon enough. I hope it will help me further accept my condition. I have trouble with it as I always wonder what I would be like without the meds.

Yesterday I weighed myself and was the lightest I've been in almost two years. It's not so much less than my more recent high these years. It is interesting how I can stay within a weight range of just 6 or 7 lbs. I don't feel a huge accomplishment as a result of yesterday's number. I swear that my weight can be as much as 4 lbs up and down just around a single menstrual period.
I am aware that I haven't been eating as healthful of a diet as I should these past couple years. It's not that I don't know what a healthful diet is. I do (lean protein, veggies/fruit, reasonable amount of whole grains, and few refined sugars.) I just have some odd resistance to eating that way, lately. I can't put my finger on why. Last week, I was even considering the idea of a nutritionist. I went to one in the past, when my weight was at its highest, and my blood work results were particularly bad. I'm over 20 lbs less now, then I was then (9 years ago), so I'm not even sure my GP would give me a referral. I need a referral, unlike with doctors, in order for my insurance to cover a nutritionist/dietitian. I did see one nutritionist who listed her fee as $45 to $50 something dollars. If I went only once per month, I could swing it, if he/she was really helping. Such a fee is not much more than a stupid co-pay would be, if insurance covered it. I need some accountability and motivational thrust. Hubby doesn't provide that well. I'm not interested in WW. I don't like their points system. I'd rather focus on nutrition and a proper balance of fats, carbs, proteins, and sugars. |

I stopped by the Dollar General to pick up a few things and the doughnuts and Cheetos were calling my name loudly. I really wanted those things. I left without them, came home and had a veggie burger instead. I’m 3 pounds away from my February weight goal and it’s not yet the middle of the month. After years of trying, I think it’s going to happen this year. I’m cautiously optimistic.

The results from all the tests the cardiologist sent me for have all come back good. I don’t have sleep apnea, my heart is strong and healthy. Makes a nice change getting positive news from a doctor.

So, if you didn't read it on the check in thread, I bit my tongue pretty badly last night. It finally did stop bleedi g and I was able to proceed with my full workout...i ate some slightly defrosted fruit and some soft crackers last night. Still burned a little, but the semi chilled fruit felt cooling on my tongue....
But now is time for breakfast and I'm a little nervous to eat. I usually have cereal with nuts and protein powder, but I think I'm gonna skip the nuts today because I'm trying not to chew so much or so hard. Really wishing I still had some applesauce and bananas left. That would've been a safer alternative. :/ Hope this heals quickly. I'm surprised. I've never broken the skin before when biting my tongue, so this is all new to me! |

I really want to eat something healthful, but I'm not up to cooking. Hubby is going out with his buddies for dinner. It's so hard to find quick healthful food in the grocery stores. Everything in their hot foods section is junk food, everything in the salad bar is either just raw individual vegetables and lettuce or pasta or salads (with few vegetables). Any other place will be mostly starchy carb, meat, and usually cheese. There are so many vegetable dish options that could be offered. Whole Foods used to have many, before Amazon took it over.
Yesterday, I burned my thumb on the heating element in my toaster oven. It didn't even hurt. I knew my thumb touched it, but only when I looked at it did I see a sear mark. It kind of concerns me how/why I feel less pain from injuries than I likely should. I know many here would like to throw a pie in my face for saying this, but it is a concern. I burn and bruise myself a lot. I'm not saying I have never felt pain, but even when I have had severe migraines, the nausea/vomiting was far worse than my head pain. On my way to the dining room, holding the small quiche that was in the mentioned toaster oven, I dropped it and it landed top down on the dining room floor. It wasn't because of heat, but carelessness. I often lose hold of things, dropping dishes/glasses, knocking things over, etc. I blame my Tegretol for that, and also wonder if it contributes to my high pain threshold. I found journal articles online that suggest that it might. |

I had a second mammogram and an ultrasound today and they can’t rule out a couple of pesky spots. I have a biopsy scheduled for the 20th. I’m calm and feeling positive about said biopsy. I can handle whatever comes up.

HI!
![]() I do not mean to discount your concerns/feelings by telling you that my sister has ultrasounds and biopsies every year, due to fibrocystic tissue. I hope it is that simple for you. In the meantime, please know you are in my thoughts and in my prayers. You know where to find me if you ever just want to have someone to listen to you. ![]() Please do let me know if I can help! ![]()

I have confirmed (at least in my mind) that the extra weight I gained and the absolute impossibility of taking it off was indeed due to high prolactin. I gave up any type of diet two weeks ago. Since then I’ve been eating what I want, how I want. This is not to say I’ve been eating junk or bingeing. I only eat three meals a day, and lunch and breakfast are relatively small. After dinner I do not snack, mainly because I don’t feel like I need to. I might have a cookie or two but I don’t overindulge. I am not counting calories or carbs or in any way tracking what I am eating. I am just enjoying being in my body and eating what it tells me to eat. It is glorious.
So back to prolactin and weight gain. In all the time I was dieting (low carb and/or restricting calories) I struggled to lose every pound. The most I lost was five pounds and the next week would see that I gained back two, despite eating exactly the same. It was so frustrating, part of the reason I said **** this and focused on accepting my body for what it is. Well, just for funsies today I decided to weigh myself. Folks, I have lost seven pounds! Now I know for sure that the prolactin was causing me to gain weight. The reason I gained so much weight in the first place (an astonishing eighty pounds in a year - a YEAR people) was because my prolactin was out of control thanks to invega. That said, I am still forging ahead with intuitive eating. It has worked for me and made me much happier than I’ve been since I was a child about my body. I started thinking I was fat in fifth grade and it never left my mind from there. Now thanks to the body positive movement I am becoming comfortable in my own fat skin. That is not to say that losing weight for many will help with problems like high cholesterol, high blood sugar, etc. But according to my recent bloodwork, I am quite healthy. So this works for me. I do hope everyone here who is losing weight for health reasons or just to feel better or get fitter etc is successful in their journey!

I couldn't take it anymore. I just had to eat a load of vegetables. It's not that I didn't have vegetables at home, but I'm sick of the ones at home. My husband doesn't like many that I like. I felt like my mind and body were yelling "EAT BROCCOLI! EAT ASPARAGUS!", both of which hubby won't eat. So I confess I ordered lunch special takeouts from a local Chinese restaurant, and then I chowed down. I feel so much better! Hubby doesn't mind the kind from Chinese restaurants, but for some reason isn't fond of mine. I don't understand it. I like my stir fries. They're better than the average Chinese joint's.
If I could make stir fries at home at least three times per week, hubby and I would likely lose some good weight. I make them without too much fat. I ate broccoli, snow peas, mushrooms, bok choi, and carrots. I didn't get asparagus. |

I am pretty drained, mentally and emotionally which affects me physically too (plus my monthly visitor is here, so yeah it's all physical). I have no idea how this will effect my sleep tonight. I'm so tired, I might not be able to sleep (the irony).
edit: a post in the check-in thread reminded me about my physical chronic illness. (I don't mention it because it's rare and I don't want to make a red flag in case anyone I know ever comes to read this, but I have to take aspirin for it). Anyway, I had been doing pretty well with it for a long time (what, like a year or so?) but I'm starting to break out into blisters again on my fingers. :/ I'm sure this new habit of hair twirling and fingernail/cuticle rubbing and picking isn't helping either. Plus, it's that time of the month and my inflammation always increases then too. Maybe it will die down by next week, but it's winter and usually that's when this flares up most (blisters in winter and redness/burning in hot weather). Sigh!
