My therapy appts are 45 mins long, while my pdoc's are 15 mins long.

My therapy appointments used to be more like 35 mins when I went in person. Nowadays, my therapist can switch between clients a lot faster than before since all she has to do is press a button to start the video call. Back in the office, she'd have to walk out and tell her client that she's ready for them. (The office is big and it takes some time to navigate, so she easily wastes like 2 mins just walking to the waiting room to find her next client.) Plus, when I went in person, she'd have to spend time writing therapy notes at the end of the session, when she can actually write notes on her laptop while I talk to her over video.

Pdoc is the same thing.

Therapy is 1 hour in person and on the phone and Psychiatry has always been 10 mins unless he feels you need longer ie 20 mins

My therapy with tdoc is 45 mins. Her walk to/from the waiting room is short, so that's not a big deal. I'll admit that the 45 mins seems much longer using telepsychiatry than it does when in person.

My psychiatrist appointments are 20 minutes, officially. He has rarely ever given me less than that. On occasion, depending on my mental or life situation, it has gone longer (up to 30 mins). If I am very unwell with my bipolar disorder, he has given me 45/50 minute "emergency" appointments. Obviously, I pay more for the 45/50 minutes than the usual 20 minutes, but it's sometimes necessary. His waiting room is not far from his office, either. Unlike my therapist that precedes me down the hall, my psychiatrist always follows me to his office. He has said that my walk down the hall can be quite telling. He will only say "Hello" until I am seated in his office. My therapist usually asks how I'm doing while I'm walking to her office. I hate that she does that. It reminds me of the same "How are you?" that people ask in daily life. I either give the automatic "Fine" or if not, it's an awkward "I suck!", or equivalent.

My video appointments with pdoc seem (but aren't) quicker than the in office ones, unlike the therapy with tdoc.

In the old days (in person) a session lasted 50 minutes. Now (video) a session lasts about 40 minutes. It's disappointing. The necessary "silences" seem to have disappeared with the use of video.

Psych appointments are the same 30 minutes, which is fine.

T sessions are 50 minutes and the rest of the hour is spent planning our next session. Pdoc calls and it lasts like 10 minutes.

T sessions are by phone and last between 30 and 45 minutes because I like to go through my issues quickly, get feedback and be done. My therapist has gone along with this so far though she has commented on it. My first NP appointment will be tomorrow and I dread it. She keeps me in her office for close to an hour on a good day so I don’t know what to expect via computer. Hopefully, it won’t be so long.

My T sessions are 53 minutes and she is right on the dot. Pdoc appointments are between 20-40 minutes depending on what is going on and med changes.

Therapy is always 1 hour, including now by video.

Pdoc is usually about 30 minutes. But this is because my pdoc likes to chat a lot and we talk about my issues to a certain extent as well. Then we get to meds at the end, and that's it. I really like my pdoc and appreciate all the time she gives me. I feel fortunate.

Therapy is 45 minutes, but sucks on line because of technical difficulties. Psychiatrist is about 10 minutes. Maybe 15. Never too long. But long enough.

@Jennifer 1967 - I had to laugh! Your NP is't really holding you hostage. She likely enjoys seeing you! I love you, too!

This week my therapy over the phone was 15 minutes, and my pdoc appointment also over the phone was a whopping 3 minutes. It's not really enough but my therapist isn't helpful and I think my pdoc knows I don't like talking to her.

Psychiatrist is usually 30 minutes. As to how helpful that is... it really depends on how much is going on.

When there is more to say, I find myself inadvertently going into like a very organised almost business-meeting mode. I'll say this is going on and that is going on, sort of like getting down to business and unless I'm really in a rut, sort of miss the emotional mark and not really go into depth about how I feel and how these things are effecting me.

Therapy is usually an hour, so I find that to be mostly enough to dig a little deeper and be more detailed about what is going on, which includes the emotional side of it.

My therapy appointments were generally like 45 minutes but now that I’m doing well and things are over the phone they’re more like 30 minutes. Psychiatrist appointments are usually about 10-15 minutes on the phone, usually more like 15 to 20 minutes in person. I’ve had longer appointments with her when doing very poorly, like up to 30-45 minutes.

Anyway, I feel the time I get is good.

10 min p-doc appt! Wow! Not sure if I am impressed with that doc or appalled. Just does not seem like enough time. Anyway, my aprn meets with me for around 30 min monthly and therapist meets with me for an hour weekly.

I just had an appointment a month ago with pdoc over the phone. It was "How are you doing?" "Good". Basically! And I dont get to see her for 2 or 3 months, since then. They won't even make me an appointment!

Therapy is 1 hour, and she will even go 5 minutes over if she feels like I need it. Pdoc is 20-30 minutes. Both appointments, my clinic does by phone, not video. I much prefer phone to video anyway.

Nothing in this forest is adequate enough. And most IMHO are silenced and brainwashed and forced to talk in words of one syllable

Therapy is 50 minutes whether in person or online.

And my pdoc insists on seeing me for at least 40 minutes each time, which I don't need, but he feels he needs to have a lengthy conversation to be able to observe my functioning adequately. I guess I agree but geez.... We both like taking cruises so that is what we talk about mostly. It just seems surreal on some level.

Wow. Yeah if it was anything like that in this forest it would be “better” .... how they think they can observe us adequately and prescribe or refer (or usually NOT refer in FIVE Minutes is beyond me
