Not a lot, sadly. Though that might change if I'm able to snag a ticket for a concert I REALLY want to attend. Fingers crossed! 🤞

What one thing would you change in your situation that would immediately make your life less stressful, if given the opportunity?

I guess being able to speak the local language, fluently. Certainly getting over my depression would help in restarting my learning of it. As for something that would be more realistic, I wish I had a pet again. One would think that an easy fix, but my husband is totally against it at this particular time. But not forever.

What is your favorite color and is there a specific reason for it?

I've always said purple, but it's not as practical as blue. Not sure the reason. Reds a bit intense, yellow the opposite, blue is like sky, jeans, ocean, hard to dislike in my opinion.

What is the most consistent part of you personality?

I am very verbal person. And it is often easier for me to express myself in writing. I am on a never ending quest for vocabulary expansion.

Facetious - I don't use this word often, but when I do I might say sa-fee-tious

What aspect of communication do you find most difficult!

Looking people in the eyes. I've had to work really hard at that.

Are you an introvert or extrovert or something in-between?

I'm an introvert, mostly, but not the shy type.

How has your bipolar (or schizoaffective) disorder affected your interactions with others? If it has.

I am not sure. When in an episode there is a stark difference, however I am hesitant to identify any differences in interactions when on 400mg lamictal because 1). I'm not sure if there are any, 2). I don't want to perpetuate a stigma if I possibly have another disorder which may be another variable.

I'll just say, sometimes I over think social situations (divergence). Also, some times I under think (impulsivity). It's difficult sometimes for me to find a balance with these.

Do you have something in the future, possibly a fantasy that you one day want to make a reality? Or plans that are far away?

I want to go back to church. Right now I am too groggy to wake up and drive to church so I can't go. I hate that. But I do plan to return eventually. Right now I'm on a pile of meds for sleep after my severe depression in the winter.

Do you watch favorite shows more than once?

Yes. I found with "Ozark" that i enjoyed it more subsequent times thru than the very first time, because i knew what to expect. I also enjoyed "Breaking Bad" as much the second time thru than the first, because i understood so much more of it.

Do you find that harm-reduction works for some things while total abstinence is required for others?

Yes.. I don't know. I feel good about the idea of substitutes to a more socially normalized vice.. the fact of the matter is anything can be abuse and used as a crutch of sorts.

Do your baby pictures look familiar to you? Or do you find yourself very different?

Yes, they look familiar. I have the same look of innocence around the eyes.

Do you find you feel differently during the daytime and evening?

No, not really it’s one long day after another.

🤪. Do you find yourself making faces at the screens, just because.

I enjoy making funny faces. Not at screens though because they can't see to my knowledge.

How many apps or websites do you frequent? Is there a theme?

I don't really use may apps; I'm a dinosaur where tech is concerned. I primarily use "the internets" on the computer/phone. I subscribe to five online newspapers, am a member of a group that keeps me abreast of local issues and a group that deals with memories of old Detroit (my hometown). I also belong to several groups that deal with sobriety, and one site (which shall remain nameless) that deals with bipolar disorder.

It's September 1! What is your favorite memory of autumn? Explain.
Thanks for this!

A particular day I spent with my then boyfriend (later hubby) in the woods of a beautiful forest. I remember us being completely alone and him photographing me amongst a lot of beautiful fern. We still have those photos. I was still young (maybe 25) and newly in love, and I believe elated hypomanic. I'll admit some photos were artistic semi-nude ones. I remember feeling at one with nature.

What is your favorite smell?

I enjoy cookout/burger but if I'm not invited it's just a tease. I enjoy wood too. Certain flowers too that I can't recall off the top of my head.

Same question?

There’s a certain smell of the north woods. It’s hard to describe, it’s unique and makes me feel at home and peaceful. There needs to be birch trees about and pine trees and the various fauna and no human habitat nearby to get that smell. The bonus is something you can smell but see, birds and animals.

Same question, what’s your favorite smell?

I like a variety of music. Christian, folk, 80s, random stuff. If I have a song there is usually a reason that I have and like that specific song; I'm not sure that I know how to say why I like any group aside from Christian which expresses my faith.

Do you give your pets nicknames? My poor cat probably has 15 names she answers to

No but my cat's name was Kitty because I met her in a group home, she had many names so I kept it simple. They let me take her with me when I got housing because no one else took care of her. She is now with my ex-colleague, who remains a good friend, and sends me pictures of her new life. She was lost for a month (before we met) when the group home burnt down. Her first owner passed her off as a young cat A life of instability, I like to think I really got her trusting of humans and basically rehabilitated her into a more prosocial life, at the exact same time that she did the very same for me..

She's a dilute calico and probably one of the most laid back cats I've met. Just wants to chill. However she still has an edge to her if you try to pick her up or if a new cat comes into play, as she used to go outside the group home and neighborhood cats would try to mess with her.

Anyway, what's the most important thing that you find helps keep you in a positive mindset?

If I attend many AA meetings a week, my mindset is reset. While I haven't had the urge to drink in many years, I have many dear friends in the program whom I have known for many years. They have become my AA brothers and sisters. Some folks attend church to enjoy fellowship; for me it's attending meetings. I have to make hay while the sun shines, though. When I get depressed, I hole up for weeks or months at a time (you folks understand).. The people in the program understand this, though. I am fairly open about my bipolar disorder. I don't raise the issue often, but there are times when it is appropriate. Some folks in meetings drive me crazy though...I hate it when people say, "I'm bipolar." Bipolar disorder doesn't define me; I HAVE bipolar disorder. After all, if I have a cold, I don't say, "I'm a cold."

What is your biggest social outlet? Describe it & explain what it does for you.

My girlfriend. She's extremely understanding. Also smart and challenges my thoughts process without hesitation, which can be frustrating hah, but I prefer it this way.

Same question?
