Here they always do the opposite, say it's Snowmageddon but then it's maybe 3". You need some XC skis or snowshoes!!!

The nature center is less than a mile from here and they rent both XC skis and snowshoes. Unfortunately I’m still under quarantine from covid. It would be great to be the first out on the trails.

I'm so behind on this check-in thread, I feel sad about it. I've been inundated with work on our book business, which is great, just a bit stressful. Involves a lot of multitasking and my eyes get so strained. Also, I've been posting on a couple of other threads, so those have been taking my time. Interesting threads, though.

And I'm battling this darn infection! So crazy! The Keflex doesn't seem to be doing anything I'm not a wimp about pain, but this is hitting me hard. Moving my right arm is rather dreadful because of the pain it causes to the infection on my shoulder/back. So I'm off to yet another doctor's appointment in a little while, hoping he'll do something helpful.

I had a therapy session yesterday and it was one of those that happens, now and then, that causes me to look at M. and say to myself, "Am I really in therapy with this woman? Why?"

People get weird around their birthdays. It's a given, and there are no exceptions I've ever, ever noticed. Her 72nd birthday is coming up next week and, sure enough, she's getting weird.

She spent almost our entire session telling me about her cat having vomiting episodes. So she took him to the vet, had a senior panel done on him (something I desperately want to have done on 2 of mine, do not have the money; I sat there burning with envy and wished she'd just shut up). Then she looked at me, all naivete, and said, "Gee! I was thinking of you, and I said to myself, Poor Laurie! What would she do if she had to have this done for one of her kitties?! I know you can't afford it!"

I just nodded. I wanted to stand up, walk over, and smack her across the face. Then she continued, "Anyway, it turned out that all of his labs were normal. So all that money for nothing. Oh, well, at least we know."

I said, "It's a food issue. He had a reaction to something you fed him." She looked surprised and replied, "Oh! That's exactly what the vet said! Gosh, I should have given you that money!"

What the eff ever, lady. That was a gas waster.

The Emg was unpleasant but not as bad as I remembered. The dr was talking to another dr about the procedure, just teaching him about it, and it was interesting hearing about the technical aspect of it though obviously I didn’t understand. Kept my mind off the weird electric shocks. Dx is definitely carpal tunnel, and severe at that. Now I see my hand specialist next week and see what he says. He already said he’d likely recommend surgery based on my presenting symptoms at the time so that’s what he’s going to say. I was hoping to put it off until the summer but the dr who did the EMG said I don’t want to put off treatment for too long as it could become chronic. I’ll see what the hand dr says and go from there.

@*Beth* sometimes I wonder if Mary should really be a therapist, honestly. Talking about herself for the whole session doesn’t sound very helpful at all!

I think I may have a non mental health non med related crisis going on, but immediate cares dont need to deal with this issue on top of RSV, the flu, and Covid. I'm hoping ice or heat or whichever does the trick and I can avoid the doctor.

My mom has been staying with my grandparents as they haven’t get well. I
Decided after work today I’d take them to the dr. Mom tried but they refused her. So I was the bad guy and insisted. When I got there they were SO sick! I immediately decided they needed the ER. Turns out they both have Covid. They admitted them
To the hospital.

Oh gosh, it’s just hitting me now. How isolated I am from information. Mum was sleeping all day she still wasn’t coughing or sneezing but she didn’t eat and being very tired is not a good sign. So I woke her up to test her. She’s positive. I also tested her oxygen which was low. Then I called Mayo, they told me to call 911. Now mum’s in the hospital and I’m cut off from communicating. They can call the landline with my special phone but it’s awkward. I gave them my daughters number. It’s so hard because I have covid and can’t go there. My daughter is on quarantine because of contact with positive people. My nephew is the only one who can go. I feel so useless and trying not to worry, but mum has lung issues and low oxygen.

I'm so sorry to read this Nammu. I'm glad you got her to the hospital and she's getting treatment. I hate that you can't be with her.

Sorry I haven't posted much lately, just been busy

I got a fitbit and it's been motivating me to be a lot more physically active. I've been getting around 10,000 steps a day and getting on the treadmill, doing weights, resistance bands exercsises and also started going to a yoga class. Yesterday I managed to do one hour and 15 minutes of yoga, I did not expect myself to last that long but I pushed through and made it till the end so I'm really proud of myself

I had my yearly physical with my primary care doctor today
My appointment went well. He said everything looks good in my bloodwork, cholesterol is somewhat elevated but he knows I’m working on that. And he is sending out a referral to a female OBGYN for a pap exam for me , I should get a call from them in 2 weeks. And he sent out refills for my omeprazole. Enough to get through the next year until my next physical since I’m doing well on it. He ordered bloodwork which I will get done before my next physical in a year from now. My blood sugar is good, low risk for diabetes shown in my bloodwork so that’s good, my electrolytes, kidney, liver, thyroid , heart all good. Blood pressure is good.

I'll post some pics of the cats in a little bit, they're doing well. Waiting on the scratching post I got them for Christmas to be delivered, they also have some new toys

I won a 20 piece flatware set at my apartment building's community bingo game today, so that was a nice surprise

Thanks I’m still grumpy. Maybe tomorrow will improve lol

It sounds like you have a lot going good in your life !!! I have a Fitbit and love all it has to offer.

Oh, I'm so glad it wasn't terrible! I do know two people who have had the ct surgery and both were thrilled with the outcome. I firmly believe that waiting until the situation might become chronic is definitely not wise.

wfc...I agree. Mary has only good intentions, and she's a truly golden soul. But she just misses the mark. She doesn't get it. I don't know if she does it with all of her clients - she may not. She says that she "feels she can be more honest with me than with her other clients" (yes, I cringe inside when she says it). She discloses far too much personal information to me and many times, that information is very, very triggering. It sets off the very things that most worry me in my own life. She's completely unaware. Sure, there are the times when she acts "the therapist," but they're fairly rare. Anymore, I just don't invest much in the situation.

I really appreciate your honesty Thank you.

I’m doing very well. My haldol taper is over and I am so much more comfortable now! I don’t Fidget at all! No mouth or tongue movements and I can finally sit still with no tremor. I’m definitely happier. I haven’t started on abilify yet, I see my psych nurse on Saturday to start it up. She’s confident I can get by on a low dose because I did well emotionally on the low dose of haldol. I’m just hoping it doesn’t upset the apple cart.

I went to the dentist for my permanent bridge and they didn’t give me enough novacaine! I felt everything, it was terrible. I don’t know why I didn’t stop them. I just never want to interfere with medical procedures and I also think I shouldn’t be a baby but I guess dental work is a different ball game. They couldn’t even complete the procedure because my gums are still inflamed! So I have to go back! When I do I will ask for more novacaine, that’s for sure!

Tomorrow I have another unpleasant medical procedure so I took off the whole day. It’s the EMG test for the carpal tunnel syndrome. They shoot electric current through your nerves and I’ve had one before and it sucks. But I’ll take the rest of the day for Christmas shopping/wrapping. RS has off as well so we’re gonna have a nice kid free lunch together.

And then on Saturday we’re going to a concert! We’re going to see less than jake, a band I’ve loved since I was a teenager. I haven’t been to a concert since 2019. And this is very exciting because I’ve always wanted to see them.

Great news on your taper off! It must feel glorious !

Dental work terrifies me even tho I have a great dentist. He uses enormous amount of novacaine. I think it’s just the noise in my head that freaks me out.

Hope your testing goes quick. I’ve had that text and it couldn’t get over with fast .. just saw you already had it ! Glad it’s over with !

Wow. Lucky her. A savings.

I was sitting there literally trying not to panic, thinking about my own cats. I don't have any savings. I have $17 in my checking account after spending $68 on my birthday hair cut. That's it.
The woman works in a low-income clinic.

Very scary but I’ve calmed down somewhat now. I’m watch Star Trek, which for me is like er is for Christina. It’s familiar and comforting. I call about an hour ago, she’s doing well and they’re running tests. I’m going to call again soon to get an update. Don’t have a clue on how to get her home though. I’m still under quarantine and mum has covid too. But it’s good I’m thinking she’ll be coming home tonight
