I have had obsessive thoughts as of late and I wonder if sometimes you have a thought that is supposedly based on what you have read. But you found out that you cannot find it. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me and I never found anything at all, but thought I did because the OCD was attracted to the information that I thought I read. Can OCD or bipolar cause the mind to play tricks on you?

I can't say for sure, but I know I've gone through month-long spans where I couldn't stop second-guessing myself because I just didn't know whether what I was thinking was something based on reality or just something my head made up.

All summer we had a lizard that hung out around our door. My dghtr began to obsess about it. Then wud freak out at the Geico.com commercials. Then she came to me one night saying the lizard was at her window knocking. Her therapist gave her some really good exercises to overcome that thing. She doesnt obsess about the lizard any more...but other things...one day at a time Something strange

For me, my obsessions start from something small that most people would not think about twice. Then my brain blows it all out of proportion. Racing thoughts and all that. It is possible that your brain is working so hard that you forget the initial trigger (this is just my opinion).
